About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding a solicitation to provide and install plexiglass social distancing panels at two Department of Veterans Affairs facilities located at 810 and 811 Vermont Ave NW in Washington, DC. The project will include verifying quantities and installation requirements for clear plexiglass toppers mounted to existing furniture panels, with heights of 67 inches for seated areas and 72 inches for standing areas. Questions addressed include the acceptability of glass or frosted screens, standard hardware finishes, procurement timelines given worldwide acrylic shortages, and confirmation that toppers height will be 18 inches. The work will be paid at standard labor rates as this is not a prevailing wage project.

1. If glass is less expensive, would that be an acceptable alternative to acrylic? Can you have the vendor provide a quote for both and I will take it to my leadership for a decision?
2. Please confirm that you’re looking for a clear screen vs a frosted screen. Clear Screens
3. The solicitation specifies that screens must be at least 67”H for sitting applications and 72”H for standing applications. Please advise the height of the existing panels in each area, so we can ensure our screens will meet the overall height requirement once added. I recommend the awarded vendor gather that information when we have our first site visit. Majority of the 67”H panels are located at 810 Vermont and the 72”H is at 811 Vermont Floors 1-5.
4. Would a silver clamp/hardware be acceptable? Yes
We may have missed the height of the screens. Do you have that information by chance? We are asking for the panels to be 18”H.
5. In the statement of work it says that all fixed height stations need to be 67”h and all adjustable height need to be 72”; however, it does not state where there are adjustable height stations vs. fixed height. Majority of the 67”H panels are located at 810 Vermont and the 72”H is at 811 Vermont Floors 1-5.\
6. I want to confirm that since the panels all appear to be 60”h, that you only want a 7” panel topper? We can do that height but it’s sort of unusual. A 12” topper would be more common. We are asking for the toppers to be 18”H.
7. It states that partition mounts may be a worksurface bracket, a worksurface mount or a panel mount but the description per area seems to only talk about a partition mount. Are there only this type of divider needed? I’m sort of assuming this was a general requirement but for your location you only need panel mounted toppers? Yes, this was a general requirement but for our location we only need panel mounted toppers but we can confirm that during our first walk-through/site visit with the awarded vendor.
8. The deadline for installation is very tight. There is a worldwide shortage of acrylic so it may not be possible to procure these in the time allotted due to this shortage. Understood!
9. Is this prevailing wage or just standard rates? Standard Rates
