QUESTIONS & ANSWERS FOR 36C10F18Q0686_1 02

Facilities/Users

Q1. Does the VA have a standardized database management system in place for this effort? If so, what are the specifications such as type of databases, communication protocols, and so forth?

A1: VA expects to subscribe to a Vendor to maintain the database; VA users will only access via a web-interface. VA expects immediate access to an established database from the Vendor no later than the start of the period of performance.

Q2: Is this solicitation considering just communication between one single VA hospital at a time and local commercial hospitals?

A2: No. VA will have multiple users accessing the vendor’s database application simultaneously. VA will not be communicating directly with any commercial hospitals. VA will be accessing a web-interfaced database managed by the Vendor.

Q3: Is this effort to set up the interface between multiple VA hospitals as well as commercial hospitals and CBOC?

A3: VA will not be communicating directly with any commercial hospitals. VA will be accessing a web-interfaced database managed by the Vendor.

Q4: Is this solicitation considering any communication between VA hospitals?

A4: The request for proposal was for a vendor application to provide community data. There is no need for the database to include VA information.

Q5: How many commercial hospitals and VA facilities is the database expected to interact with daily, weekly, and annually?

A5: VA expects the bidder’s application to have access to the community data points outlined in the Statement of Work, Section B, 1.2.1 – 1.2.8. This web-interfaced database is not interacting with commercial hospitals in real time. VA expects a database that has adhoc access for regional/local planners.

Q6: How many different types of internal and commercial databases are we expected to communicate with?

A6: The Vendor should have an established database that the VA will access through a web-interface.

Q7: What are the different types of commercial databases?

A7: Maintain with updated commercial. Vendor’s discretion; the Vendor is expected to have an established web-interfaced database and the maintain database with relevant information outlined in the Statement of Work, Section B, 1.2.1 – 1.2.8.

Q8: What are other dependencies of the communications or databases that would be relevant to this effort?

A8: Vendor’s discretion; the Vendor is expected to have an established web-interfaced database and maintain the database with relevant information outlined in the Statement of Work, Section B, 1.2.1 – 1.2.8.

Q9: Including VA and commercial hospitals, how many users in total are expected to use the system?

A9: The database will only be accessed by VA users and there will be approximately 200 users. However, the frequency of logging in to the web-interfaced database will vary depending on each user’s need.

Q10: Who at the commercial hospitals would be responsible for management, inputting, and maintenance of the data and subscriptions required?

A10: This is the Vendor’s responsibility.

Q11: Are there any current agreements for subscription services from commercial hospitals?

A11: No

A12: Is there a requirement for real-time access to ADT stats within the community of hospitals? If so, will the VA be negotiating the real-time access relationship with each commercial hospital?

A12: No

Storage:

Q1: What would be the annual storage requirements for this system?

A1: Vendor should already have established web-interfaced database available for access no later than the start of the period of performance.

Q2: How many, if any, local servers would be expected to interact or be migrated with the new system?

A2: No local servers will be impacted. The Vendor should provide all data storage for the web-interfaced database that they should already have developed and in production.

Q3: Will the cloud migration and data storage be expected to be hosted by a commercial or private cloud?

A3: Data migration and storage is the responsibility of the vendor and all costs are incorporated in the price of the database subscription.

Q4: Will the FFP be considering the costs to maintain the cloud service monthly?

A4: No

Q5: Will the FFP be considering that varying costs with usage that are not in the control of the vendor?

A5: No.
