C DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATIONS

C.1 MANUFACTURE CLEANING ABRASIVE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-A-22262B(SH)

PARA. 6.2 (ORDERING DATA)

(A) "ABRASIVE BLASTING MEDIA SHIP HULL BLAST CLEANING" ,

MIL-A-22262B (SH), 30 SEPT 1994.

(B) DELETED

(C) UTILITY AND FINE GRITS

(D) SEE SECTION B OF THIS SCHEDULE.

(E) BULK SHIPMENT, "DRY" MATERIAL IS REQUIRED. UNIT OF MEASURE

IS NET WEIGHT.

(F) BULK SHIPMENT. DELIVERY BY TRUCK IS MANDATORY.

(G) SEE SECTION D OF THIS SCHEDULE.

(H) NOT APPLICABLE

(I) PER PARA. 5.5 AND 5.5.1 OF MIL SPEC.

C.2 SOLUBLE AND TOTAL METAL CONTENT SHALL BE PER PARA. 3.4.12 OF

MIL SPEC.

C.3 CARBONATES AND GYPSUM SHALL BE PER PARA. 4.5 OF MIL SPEC.

C.4 THE TEST FOR ACCEPTABLE LEVELS OF CARBONATES AND GYPSUM SHALL

MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE TEST IN MIL-A-22262. IF AN

ALTERNATIVE TEST IS USED, THEN THE 0.01% LEVELS ARE TO BE THE

ACCEPTABLE LIMITS. THE 0.01% ACCEPTANCE LIMIT DOES NOT APPLY

IF THE MIL-A-22262 TEST IS INVOKED.

C.5 CROSS GAMMA RADIOACTIVITY IS NOT TO EXCEED 20.0 PICOCURIES PER

GRAM. NOT MORE THAN 0.05 PICOCURIES PER GRAM OF GAMMA

RADIOACTIVITY SHALL BE DUE TO COBALT-60.

NOTE: CONSULT A NAVY ENVIRONMENT PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE

UNIT (NAVENPUNTMEDU) OR A NAVY REGIONAL MEDICAL

CENTER (NRMC) IF GUIDANCE IS NEEDED IN INTERPRETING

THESE REQUIREMENTS.
