Title: High power Rb laser system and amplifier Detailed Specifications
Item 1. High power 780 nm laser system and control electronics Item 1 Quantity: 1
1.1 NIST requires a complete laser system operating at 780.24 nm with a total output power above 3.5 W.
1.2 NIST requires a Mode-hope free turning range of 25 GHz
1.3 NIST requires a laser linewidth of less than 100 kHz.
1.4 NIST requires a beam profile quality with M2 < 2.
1.5 If laser design is MOPA-type (laser plus tapered amplifier), NIST requires suppression of the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE).
1.6 If the laser is MOPA-type, NIST requires 60 dB of optical isolation for protection of the gain chip.
1.7 NIST requires control electronics for actively stabilizing the temperature and drive current of the laser and amplifier components of the laser system.
1.8 NIST requires a graphical interface integral to the control electronics.
1.9 NIST requires the ability to control the laser system using a graphical PC interface over TCP/IP.
1.10 NIST requires electronic components build into the control system for stabilizing / locking the laser frequency to a user-supplied reference signal.
1.11 NIST requires fiber coupled output for the laser system with all appropriate degrees of freedom for optimizing the fiber coupling.
1.12 NIST requires the output optical fiber to be of the SM/PM type, have FC/APC connectors, have an approximate length of 3 m, have a NA of approximately 0.11, and to be designed to accept the full output power of the laser system.
Item 2: High power 780 nm laser amplifier and control electronics Item 2 Quantity: 1
2.1 NIST requires a complete laser amplifier system operating at 780.24 nm with a total output power above 3.5 W using 30 mW of user-supplied, single mode seed light with linear polarization.
2.2 NIST requires a laser beam profile quality with M2 < 2.
2.3 If laser design is MOPA-type (laser plus tapered amplifier), NIST requires suppression of the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) of at least -35 dB.
2.4 NIST requires at least 60 dB of optical isolation for protection of the gain chip.
2.5 NIST requires optical gain > 15 dB.
2.6 NIST requires a fiber coupled input port including integral coupling hardware and associated optical fiber to enable the user to launch a linearly polarized beam along a fiber axis for seeding the amplifier system.
2.7 NIST requires the input optical fiber to be of the SM/PM type, have FC/APC connectors, have an approximate length of 3 m, and have a mode-field diameter (MFD) of approximately 5.5 microns.
2.8 NIST requires a fiber coupled output port including integral coupling hardware and associated optical fiber which efficiently couples the amplified output of the laser amplifier.
2.9 NIST requires the output fiber to be of the SM/PM type, have FC/APC connectors, have a length of approximately 3 m, have a NA of approximately 0.11 designed to accept the fiber coupled output of the laser system, and to be designed to handle the full output power of the amplifier system.
2.10 NIST requires standalone (separate from Item 1) control electronics for controlling the temperature and current of the laser amplifier.
2.11 NIST requires a graphical interface integral to the control electronics.
2.12 NIST requires the ability to control the laser system using a graphical PC interface over TCP/IP.
