DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE

MEMORANDUM FOR 509 CONS/LGCV
FROM: 393 BS/CC
SUBJECT: Performance Work Statement (PWS) for BOSS Upgrade
1. The Battlefield Operations Support System (BOSS) allows the B-2 to conduct daily Link-16 combat scenario training from the 509th Bomb Wing, 72nd Test and Evaluation Squadron, 303rd
Fighter Squadron and the 325th Weapons School. The BOSS gives the crews the vital ability to adjust training scenarios daily to real world situations. It is the only adjustable platform able to give the B-2 realistic threat scenarios during local training sorties.
2. The 393d Bomb Squadron is acquiring new BOSS terminal. The BOSS terminal is an integrated system and needs to be purchased as a whole to prevent waste in future sustainment and to keep the entire system warrantied. The system contains three computers with the following specs minimum: a Dell Workstation T7920 (desktop) 2.4 GHz quad core Xeon processors, 16GB RAM, removable 500GB hard drive, keyboard, mouse, monitor, DVDRW drive, and 1GB professional graphics card. The new hardware needs to be incorpated with the MIDS terminal via new 1553 bus hardware. This software needs to interact with a MIDS LVT 7 terminal and current infrastructure on the terminal here at Whiteman. The 393d wants the Gold Product Support Plan in order to allow operators at Whiteman to be appropriately trained in the new software as well as give us help desk support and software updates for the entire year. The install should take no longer than two days and a third day should be given for aircrew instruction. Lastly this system will be TA compliant to ensure all security measures are met.
3. This requirement is NOT an inherently governmental position.
4. Approval is given to proceed with the upgrade of the Battlefield Operations Support System
