STATEMENT OF WORK

Procurement of TA Instruments DMA 3200

1. Objective/Requirements Code 541 routinely performs dynamic mechanical analysis, creep testing, and fatigue testing of coupons in support of flight and research projects. However, testing capabilities are limited by the low maximum force that can be applied by instruments currently available in branch laboratories. This statement of work covers procurement of a TA Instruments DMA 3200 high-force dynamic mechanical analyzer, associated equipment (sample temperature control system, test fixtures, and control computer), installation, and operator training.

2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs

The high-force dynamic mechanical analyzer shall meet the following requirements:

Dynamic and creep testing capability Dynamic frequency range spanning 0.01 Hz to 100 Hz Applied force up to 500 N, with force resolution no greater than 6 mN Sample displacement up to 6.5 mm, with displacement resolution no greater than 1 nm Environmental temperature control, including liquid nitrogen cooling, spanning a temperature range from -150 °C to 600 °C Product includes test fixtures for: 3-point bending, cantilever bending, film/fiber tension, compression, and shear Frictionless air-bearing motor Data format compatibility with existing equipment in the Materials Engineering

Branch (i.e., TRIOS software platform used by TA Instruments systems)

In addition, TA Instruments shall install and provide operator training for the dynamic mechanical analyzer.

3. Place of Performance NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD 20771

4. Period of Performance Lead time for delivery from purchase is not to exceed 120 days.
