Text version

Identification of the statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition 41 USC 253(c)(1) and FAR Part 6.302-1(c): Brand Name The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Vaccine Research Center (VRC), Virus Persistence and Dynamics Section (VPDS) has a mission of focusing on the mechanisms of HIV persistence in vivo and genetic and gene expression analysis of the viruses and its host cells. The goal is to help develop means of targeting virus reservoirs and reducing disease progression in people living with HIV by illuminating the significant biology of HIV persistence during antiretroviral therapy (ART). Many of the current projects will be investigating single-cell transcriptomic analysis of HIV reservoirs before and after systemic IL-15 therapy. By far the most robust approach is by isolating a single cell, constructing sequencing libraries, then sequencing the DNA using our next-generation sequencer, the Pacific Biosciences (PacBio Sequel) and its reagents.

In the VPDS lab, studies are done on the cellular reservoirs of the HIV virus and its genetic or functional diversity. Some of these studies includes the developmental of high-throughput methods for characterizing large numbers of single cells and viruses, the unique genetic programs expressed by infected cells, and the use of virus genetic analysis to detect critical events that may not be directly observable in vivo. The requirement is for PacBio library preparation and sequencing reagents to accomplish the mission of VPDS and VRC. Due to continuity protocols and compatibility issues, we require these the specific brand request. No substitutes are acceptable under this continuity protocol.
