About this file

This document describes a federal contract opportunity for the purchase of VizSeek OCR software. The Department of the Army Materiel Command Contracting Command Redstone Arsenal intends to award a sole-source, firm-fixed price contract to Imaginestics LLC for their VizSeek OCR software to support the Systems Readiness Directorate at Redstone Arsenal. The software will automate the extraction of metadata from 2D engineering drawings and support materials to aid in populating data migration spreadsheets as part of a data migration project. The software leverages machine learning algorithms to automatically interpret various drawing formats without requiring predefined templates.

Purchase Description Technical Data Management Division has been tasked by AvMC to scan the large volume of hard copy/ paper engineering 2D drawings and supporting 2D engineering artifacts that are currently stored in a large file vault cabinet structure.. As part of the scanning process to properly identify and categorize what is being scanned, meta data elements (Part Number, CAGE Code, Distribution Code, Data Rights, Revision etc..) must be pulled from each of the scanned items so the item can properly be identified once it is in digital format (after the scanning process). Currently this is a very labor intensive, manual process which is tedious and time consuming. Tech Data Management Division has explored the use of software to automate this process and minimize the need for human touch-time. As an outcome of this, Tech Data Management Division seeks to procure VizSeek OCR software. The OCR software has the ability to read numerous drawing templates and formats without the need for predefined drawing templates or formats to be interpreted and programmed/configured within the software application before the software can be used for scanning. The VizSeek software leverages proprietary machine learning algorithms, meaning that the software has built in intelligence to automatically account for and adjust to any drawing template for format that is scanned. The software being purchased is for CCDC-ManTech Congressional Add funding data migration. The OCR software will automate the capturing of meta data from the face of technical 2D engineering technical data and aid in populating bulk migration loader spreadsheets that will be leveraged during the data migration. The utilization of the software will greatly reduce the human physical touch time that would be needed to physically review the drawings, not having this software will cause a sizeable schedule delay and exponentially increase costs.
