| TO: | Procurement Specialist, OPC, CC | |
| FROM: | Anna F. Lau, Ph.D., Senior Staff, Microbiology, DLM, CC, NIH | |
| SUBJECT: | Purchase of Maintenance Contract for Bruker |
Statement of Work:
Background:
The Department of Laboratory Medicine serves as the clinical laboratory of the NIH Clinical Center. It provides laboratory support for patient care and research protocols and performs research and training in disciplines of Clinical Pathology. In doing so, DLM provides state-of-the-art laboratory testing in support of Clinical Center patient care and serves as a center of excellence in research and training in laboratory medicine, particularly in areas that utilize the unique strengths of the National Institutes of Health.
Purpose:
The Department of Laboratory Medicine uses four BioFire Filmarray instruments for the rapid detection and identification of respiratory pathogens and gastrointestinal pathogens. The results generated by these instruments directly influence the treatment of patients in the NIH Clinical Center. The purpose of this procurement is to ensure that the Filmarray instruments continue to perform at their highest level to maintain quality patient care. If the Filmarray instruments are allowed to function without regular maintenance, the systems will fail leading to unanticipated expensive repairs and prolonged down time that will negatively impact patient care. We anticipate that one year preventative maintenance and service for THREE Filmarray instruments will cost $14,064 (serial numbers FA1182, 2FA00546, and 2FA00386). (The fourth Filmarray instrument is still under purchase warranty until year 2018).
Scope of Work:
We require telephone support within 24 hours followed by in-house service, return to base or factory service as needed. Service will included parts, labor, travel, shipping and annual preventative maintenance. The vendor shall supply the necessary maintenance services to the instrumentation in the Microbiology Service, located at 10 Center Dr. Bldg. 10 Room 2C-306, Bethesda, MD, 20892.
Delivery date:
The maintenance contract described in this Statement of Work is scheduled to begin 7/1/16 and expire on 6/30/17 for instruments FA1182, 2FA00546, and 2FA00386.
Security questions:
1. Will the vendor install and/or maintain the equipment/software/hardware on site at NIH? Yes.
2. How long will the vendor need to be on site? Zero days
3. Will the vendor have remote access to any system on site at the NIH? No.
