NEW FIRE ALARM SYSTEM

USP LEAVENWORTH

CLARIFICATIONS

QUESTION: (Asked during the site visit) The SOW says the new conduit needs to be above the sheet rock or to a concrete wall, Contractor asked to see above an area in the commissary ceiling that was secured.

BOP RESPONSE: The area was not able to opened, however, it was determined to have approximately 3’-4’ area to work above the ceiling.

QUESTION: (Asked during the site visit) Will the alarms set all the doors to lock or unlock?

BOP RESPONSE: The BOP wants the new system to unlock only doors that are associated with the zone in which the alarm is indicated.

QUESTION: (Asked during the site visit) The system inside will be operated using batteries? Outside will be UPS operated?

BOP RESPONSE: The answer to both is, Yes.

QUESTION: (Asked during the site visit) Bidder asked where the phone lines and cables are.

BOP RESPONSE: Two Cables run from the OS Paint Shop. USP Leavenworth will do their best to locate and use paint markers to show where the cables go, however, any contractor or subcontractor needs to do their own locating to ensure they do not cut any currently used infrastructure as noted in the construction notes.

QUESTION: Bidder asks the BOP to give specific pipe size and location for new flow sensors on the sprinkler system.

BOP RESPONSE: Pipe size is 4”. The camp has one flow alarm which is in the basement and one in the camp commissary. The outside CMS building has four flow sensors in the building.

QUESTION: Some of the conduits have been in place for a long time with several layers of paint. After conduits and boxes are removed, what is the extent of painting and patchwork you are expecting.

BOP RESPONSE: All demolition, renovations, and new construction will look as close to existing infrastructure as possible.
