Are you aware of any access means to accomplish the installation, possibly an opening on an exterior wall, or a removable floor section where the new unit could be hoisted into the electrical room?
There are no removable floor or roof sections. The access shall be from the inside of the Powerhouse.
Since the new XMFR should be on the same level prior to replacement, this would add considerable weight bearing on the 2nd floor concrete floor. Do you know if that floor can support the weight of both transformers?
Load specifications for the floor are not available.
Does the requirement include the replacement of the switch gears?
Switch gear and switch will not be replaced. The requirement is to remove and dispose of the old transformer core from the enclosure. Re-Install new core into the existing enclosure. The new core shall include new lightning arrestors on the primary side and new high voltage cables from the existing disconnect switch. New secondary connections shall connect to the existing 4000 amp bus. Existing transformer cooling fans shall be reinstalled and operable.
Please confirm that we are only replacing the Dry Type transformer, and not the Medium Voltage disconnect in addition to the transformer.
Correct, we are only replacing the Dry Type Transformer core and not the Medium Voltage disconnect switch.
To replace the transformer will require a lengthy outage of the loads that are fed from this transformer. Are there any limitations on this outage for day of the week/ time?
Work shall be coordinated to minimize outage/disruption due to the security of the institutions.
Work shall be performed during the normal working hours. Once removal of the old core and installation of new core begins, work shall continue without interruption until new transformer is operable.
Do you have the original cut sheets/drawings on the transformer?
See attached. This is the information we have. As noted in Statement of Work contractor must take on-site measurements to identify field conditions.
