QUESTIONS:

1. All of the specification information matches an 18"

Blue Label # 1 shingle except for the width. 18" Blue Label is available in 3" to 8" widths, but specification details 4" to 14" Widths. 24" Blue Label is available in 4" to 14" Widths, however, by making that size adjustment it also changes the maximum roof exposure to 7-1/2" (specification is for 5-1/2" maximum). Is the intended width supposed to be 3" to 8"?

Shingles provided must be the same or equivalent to attached label. Acceptable widths are 3”-14”. Shingle exposure rating shall be 5-1/2”. Specifications have been changed.

2. Will it be 80 Squares of coverage or just 80 Bundles? (1 bundle is .25 squares)

The purchase request is for 80 squares, which is the equivalent of 320 bundles.

3. Is the area of delivery accessible by tractor trailer? Yes. Additionally, there is a forklift onsite.

4. Will you be providing the forklift on site for the delivery of the Cedar Shingles? Will the park provide a forklift operator? Will these need to be offloaded by the vendor?

Shingles will be unloaded by an NPS employee using an NPS provided forklift.

The Delivery must be scheduled with park COR. Additionally, the following is required:

Delivery hours 8AM to 3PM

Monday thru Friday (with the exception of Federal holidays).

Notification must be provided 1 working day in advance so a forklift can be available.

5. Please advise if this Solicitation for the 80 sq of 18”

Perfection Shingles is for the product only and that installation is not required?

Solicitation of for materials and delivery only.

6. Is there no required treatment for the Shingles? Treatment of shingles is not required.

7. Do these cedar shingles need to be Fire Treated or

CCA treated?

Shingles can be untreated.

8. Can an 18-wheeler access the drop location? Yes.

9. The grading rules on our product has a minimum length of 17”s, not 18 and the butt thickness is .45 mm not ½”. Is it acceptable?

Minimum Length 18” +/- 1” Western Red Cedar Shingles must have square butt at 5-2 ¼” (18” shingles are all packaged at 5 shingles per 2 ¼” thickness at the butt).

10. Are these going to be used for siding or a roof? Roofing.

11. Are there any challenges in this Solicitation? No known challenges.

12. Who was the previous incumbent, and the award amount?

This is a new requirement, and no previous Award or Solicitation exists.

13. What was the old solicitation number? This is a new requirement, and no previous Award or Solicitation exists.

14. Is there a required dimension? Yes. See Specifications.

15. Does the shipping require palletized delivery? Yes.

16. Do you require an independent 3rd party inspected product manufactured by a Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau (CSSB) affiliated Mill?

Yes. All offered shingles must be inspected by a third-party agency and inspected by Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau Cedar Quality Auditor.

17. Will you accept a product made from salvaged log blocks?

No.

18. Is there a requirement for whole log fibers? Yes. See Specifications.

19. Do you have specific origin standards? No.
