Manufacturers recommend using capillary tubes in windows installed over 3,000 feet in elevation, but the specs indicate they should be argon filled. Are capillary tubes acceptable rather than argon filled?
Capillary tubes are acceptable and should be noted in the submittal when submitting product information for approval.

Horizontal sliders do not meet the maximum U-factor of 0.30, 0.31 is the best I can find. Is this U-factor acceptable for horizontal sliders?
0.31 U-factor is acceptable and should be noted in the submittal when submitting product information for approval.
3
Horizontal sliders can also have an issue meeting the air infiltration requirement of 0.05. We are searching for a product to meet these requirements, if we are not successful, will this requirement be possible to waive?

Is it acceptable to substitute the Pella window vinyl 250 series or the Pella fiberglass window in lieu of the aluminum clad windows? From discussion with our Pella rep, they no longer manufacture the aluminum clad with the slider as noted in the specifications. If aluminum clad is required can the slider be changed to either a hung window or casement window?
· Vinyl windows are not acceptable
· If fiberglass is used it must meet required specs
· Sliders are required where sliders are specified

From discussion with our window rep the current average lead time on windows is 12 to 14 weeks. This would put the window order out around 90 days. If the deadline is to be April as noted on the schedule is it the intent to have an award by the first of December. Looking at the schedule this would put window delivery around the middle of February without time for submittal approval which would put the delivery likely in the first to mid-March leaving only a short time frame to complete the work. Is there consideration for material delays due to supply chain issues and is the deadline firm as noted?
The Government accounted 70 days for material lead time. If for some reason the material delivery lead time does get pushed back due to supply chain issues the Government will adjust accordingly at that time. The Government would like the project to be completed by 15 April 2022. If there are lead time issues, we will adjust the notice the proceed.
