Questions and Answers

Replace Reverse Osmosis Desalinators

Dry Tortugas National Park

1. In the SOW one requirement is “unit must have a belt driven pulley motor system, positive displacement pumps.” Can this be substituted for a direct drive, non-belt driven pump?

Response: Interested bidders should disregard “unit must have a belt driven pulley motor system.” The specification is now for a “direct drive, non-belt driven pump.”

2. Is this referring to the feed water or a re-pressurization pump after the RO system?

Response: Feed water high pressure pump.

3. Can you provide any information regarding the feedwater source or its characteristics? TDS levels, mineral content, etc.?

Response: Feed water source is 100% raw sea water with origin from the southeastern Gulf of Mexico with the characteristics common to such.

4. The system may require pretreatment equipment to function properly, should this be included in quote, or should the quote only focus on the RO units as specified?

Response: No pretreatment equipment is specified.

5. Do you know what the expected temperature range for the feed water will be?

Response: Year-round temp range of feed water averages 70-90 degrees F.

6. Is a variable frequency drive desired/required for the high-pressure pump?

Response: Variable frequency drive high pressure pump not required.

7. Will approximate unit dimensions of 65” W x 43” D x 30” H be acceptable?

Response: Dimensions in SOW allow min-max for doorway access into interior of equipment room.

8. May we get an extension on this project?

Response: Due date for quotes is being extended to September 3, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. ET.
