Question #2: Building 65917 states to remove and replace the existing 3 ton package unit and 3 ton split system. The existing units are each 2 tons. Question: do you want to go back with 2 ton units our upsize to 3 ton units? Doing this will increase the electrical demand to the panel.
Answer: Go with like 2 ton units
Question #3: Building 60222 states to remove and replace the existing 3 ton system. The existing is a 2 ton system. Question: Same as #2.
Answer: Go with like 2 ton unit

Question # 6: All of the condensers and air handlers are to be Adsil coated. Please confirm that this is coating the coils and cabinets on all Answer: Yes. See attachment #4
Question # 7: Building 73737 States to remove the existing Mini Split System and replace it with a 20 Seer Carrier 115 volt straight cool Mini Split or equal. The Multi zone units are not available in straight cool or 115 volt. The existing system is a 208/230-1-60 Heat Pump with a 2 ½ ton condenser and (3) 1 ton AHU’s. Question: Do we replace with a like unit?
Answer: Replace with like mini spilt
Question # 8: Do all of the horizontally installed air handlers need new secondary drain pans under them?
Answer: Yes if already existing
Question #9: The verbiage in the statement of work indicates that the new split systems are to be straight cool. All the existing units are heat pumps. Is the intent to go to all straight cool systems on the larger units?
Answer: go with like units / heat pump
Question # 10: At the Maintenance Storage Building (60161) the SOW states to put a 115 volt multi air handler unit in. As per the previous RFI it is not available in 115 volt. That said. The existing electrical being run to that building is (2) 115 volt circuits coming over from Building 60158. The only way to provide the multi head system is to run a new 208 volt single phase circuit from the panel in Building

60158 over to the 60661. The existing 115 volt circuits only have the capability of running the lights and 1 single head mini split or the 1 existing window unit. But not both. Please advise.
Answer: Install a 240 v two head with power upgrade
Question # 11: At the Curatorial Building. The ceilings are all painted drywall with no access to the attic space to change out the duct work. is the intent for us to cut a “scuttle” hole into the ceiling for attic access?
Answer: yes install proper access
Question # 12: At the Ranger Station. The existing acoustical ceiling has badly warped and stained ceiling tiles in it. A lot of these tiles will break while be removed. Should we include an allowance of 5 cases of tiles for the re-installation to replace those that break and the ones that are badly stained?
(that may not be enough) Answer: replace all ceiling tile
Question # 13: At the Ranger Station. Will the people be moved out of the space while the new duct work is being installed? As we remove portions of ceiling to access the duct, the batt insulation above will be coming down with the tiles. This is going to make a mess and all the furniture and computers will need to be covered with daily clean up and the building will be very hot and humid during the duct change out. Please advise.
Answer: yes contractor must provide schedule
Question # 14: There is no spec in the SOW of work for the duct work that is going to be replaced in Buildings 99410, 60218 & 60222. Previous duct replacements were insulated sheet metal. Are we to install the new duct per SMACNA metal duct standards and insulate the duct with 2.3 “, ¾ lb. blanket insulation? Please advise.
Answer: Acceptable
Question # 15: At 99410. There is a 60 amp breaker feeding (2) 30 amp breakers outside at the condensers. While this is an acceptable practice, the outside disconnect is in bad shape and at the end of it’s life cycle. Question, do you want that outside double breaker disconnect changed out?
Answer: Yes
Question # 16: At the Schultz House (65917) we are to change out the equipment but, no mention is made of the outside duct shroud. It is badly damaged and in need of replacement. Do you want the cover changed?
Answer: Replace
Question # 17: At the Schultz House, dehumidification is a requirement of the package unit and split system. While the spilt system will have a variable speed air handler to help dehumidify, the package unit will need to have 2 stages of cooling and a ECM motor in order to achieve the amount of dehumidification required. Please clarify in the addendum that this is what CNS is looking for.
Answer: Yes
Question # 18: Fire Cache (99410) The current configuration of breakers shows the garage unit holding
Page 3 of 4 Pages configuration of breakers within the panel has both AC Condensers tied to a single 60-amp circuit. This is not appropriate code installation as each AC should have their own separate feed. This will remove the sub panel outside and prevent further wear on unnecessary parts. Please provide direction if the intent is to repair existing feed properly to code or follow the specification as written and continue using the deteriorated subpanel outside?
Answer: Bring to code
Question # 19: The current coating system appear to be failing on all units. Rather than use the same failing coatings, would a substitute coating typically used on Marine vessels, be accepted. Please see attached MSDS of Intercoat 1500. There is a clear, black, gray finish. Please provide answer for contractor to include in quote.
Answer: No – micro guard AD 35 HVAC sea coast protection Made by Adsil-See attachment #4
Question # 20: Schultz House (65917) current unit is 2-ton Carrier and not a (3) ton Unit. If this was unknown, installing a 3 ton would add more volume and ducting would need to be replaced. There is no description in the SOW to replace ducting. Please provide adequate direction to either install a (2) ton and not worry about ducting, install a (3) ton and don’t worry about ducting, or install (3) ton and replace ducting?
Answer: Go with like 2 ton units and replace duct shroud
Question # 21: Maintenance Storage Building60161) There is no current Carrier Mini Split 115V unit with multi heads. The unit available is a 240V and would need necessary power to the building fuse box to accept the 240V mini Split with a new breaker at the panel. Please confirm acknowledgement of the lack of 115V units and whether the contractor is to quote the installation of the additional power feed necessary for the 240V unit. The 240V unit is a Heat pump type unit and not a Straight Cool.
Answer: install a 240V with 2 heads mini split, with power up grade
Question # 22: Curatorial Building (6022) currently has no access to the ducting in the upper crawl space. The contractor would like to know if the quote should include a permanent access in the ceiling as additional structural requirements will need to be included in the quote?
Answer: yes include a permanent access
Question # 23: Schultz House (65917) There is an existing drain issue that is causing leak back into the system. While replacing the piping as per the SOW, the contractor cannot guarantee the drain issue is solved. Would the CO like to have the contractor include a complete functioning drain system and repairing of the damaged ducting/insulation?
Answer: Yes
Question # 24: Entrance Station (60210) Please confirm acknowledgement of the lack of 115V units and whether the contractor is to quote the installation of the 240V unit. The 240V unit is a Heat pump type unit and not a Straight Cool.
Answer: Replace with like 240V Unit
Question # 25: Caretaker House (73737) Please confirm acknowledgement of the lack of 115V units and whether the contractor is to quote the installation of the 240V unit. The 240V unit is a Heat pump type unit and not a Straight Cool
