About this file

This amendment provides clarification to solicitation number 140L6423Q0022 for buffelgrass spray services on Bureau of Land Management properties in Arizona. The 835 acres identified for treatment are areas within larger treatment units totaling 4023 acres that currently contain buffelgrass based on survey data. The contractor will be shown this current buffelgrass occurrence data and is not expected to conduct a full pedestrian survey, but rather treat areas of known buffelgrass visible from access points. Only one applicator license is required to oversee crew work. Billing should be submitted based on actual wetted acres treated rather than total acres of larger treatment units.

BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT (BLM)

Ironwood Buffelgrass Spray

Solicitation 140L6423Q0022

Amendment 0001

The purpose of this amendment is to respond to questions received. All other terms, conditions, and due dates remain the same.

Questions and Answers:

1. Do all applicators in fact need a license, or just one to oversee the crew applicating?

Just the one overseeing the application.

2. The SOW states that 835 acres will be treated within all of the treatment units which total 4023 acres. Is it the intent of the BLM to have the contractor survey the entire 4023 acres or will specific treatment areas be selected which total 835 acres?

The BLM has identified areas within each treatment unit where there is currently buffelgrass (based on the latest survey data), this acreage adds up to the 835 acres across all the treatment units. Each treatment unit outlines an area that has previously had buffelgrass or has the conditions to support buffelgrass expansion. We will be able to show the awarded vendor the current data that shows where the buffelgrass is currently within each treatment unit. The BLM is not looking for a pedestrian survey of each treatment unit, generally you can get to a high point within the unit and survey or see where the buffelgrass is located since it stands out against the natural vegetation.

3. Do you want the bid for wetted acres, or for the entire 835 acres?

The quote will be for the wetted acres. The units are identified based on past buffelgrass occurrence, the occurrence of buffelgrass has occurred within the footprint of the units and has changed over time, the estimate of the number of acres of buffelgrass in each unit is based on the latest survey data.

3a. Example, if we treat the 835 acres and it’s 10% coverage (83.5 acres) of buffelgrass. Our wetted acres, or spot treatment total would be 83.5 acres. When we submit the invoice will it be for 83.5 acres or for 835 acres?

Submit the invoice for the wetted acres or the number of acres treated with herbicide within each unit.
