About this file

This is a Questions & Answers document regarding a boat motor procurement for the USGS North Texas Program Office. The Q&A addresses technical specifications and clarifications for a Yamaha outboard motor installation on a 20' aluminum Boulton Powerboat.

Key clarifications include: the requirement is for a single motor (not twins), existing hydraulic steering and controls will be reused, no new steering wheel is needed, and the shaft length specification was updated in the salient characteristics document. The motor must be compatible with existing mechanical (not digital) controls. The procurement is a small business set-aside under NAICS 336612 with a 1,000 employee size standard. Quotes are due around December 3, 2024, with anticipated award by December 9, 2024. Delivery is required within 181 days after receipt of order to Fort Worth, Texas.

Q&A Attachment 1.per requirement number 5, you are asking for a 25 inch shaft. But the model you are requesting is a 20 inch shaft. If you wanted a 25" shaft it would be a F115XB. Not F115LB. So which shaft do we need?

See point #1 on updated salient characteristics document.

2. Per requirement #6, you are requesting all new control and performance systems. F115LB is a mechanical engine, not an electronic fly by wire system like requested in #6. But in #23 and #24 you are wanting us to use existing motor controls. So which one? But keep in mind yamaha does not offer F115 in digital yet.

See point #30 on updated salient characteristics document.

3. How many motors are on this boat? Number 19 alludes to twins.

Just one motor.

4. Use new hydraulic steering or existing hydraulic steering? #23 counters #7 Use existing systems.

5. The model listed is a F115LB but the description shows a 25” shaft. The F115LB only has a 20” shaft. The F115XB has a 25” shaft. Which motor needs to be quoted?

See point #1 on updated salient characteristics document.

6. Are you wanting a new jack plate and jack plate controls mounted on the steering wheel? If so, how much setback on the jack plate?

See point #19 on updated salient characteristics document.

7. Are you wanting new hydraulic steering installed? If so, how long do the hoses need to be? Tilt or fixed helm?

We need to use the current set up (just need a replacement motor attached). See point #12 on updated salient characteristics document for tilt specs.

8. New steering wheel? If so, stainless steel? With the knob or without?

No new steering wheel.

9. Are the controls, gauges and harnesses going to be reused with the new motor?

Yes, see point #20 on updated salient characteristics document.

10. What is the boat make and model?

20' aluminum Boulton Powerboat.

11. Can you provide pictures of the boat, transom, and console? See updated salient characteristics document
