Solicitation # 140G0120Q0129 Asphalt Paving and Crack Sealing

Questions & Answers v1

Q1. After cracks are sealed, will yellow line stripes need to be redone? If so, will all lines need to be repainted?

A1. No, yellow line stripes do not need to be painted.

Q2. Is sealant needed between concrete curb and asphalt which is considered a joint?

A2. No

Q3. Would you consider a 2’ slope with steeper back wedge rather than 4’? A 4’ back wedge will impede with the A/C concrete pad on 5 meter dome.

A3. 2’ slope with steeper back wedge is acceptable

Q4. Items are in the way such as an A/C unit on the 10 meter dome with A/C lines going under the dome. Will need A/C technical to move when incorporating a slope. Can we add a line item for a technician?

A4. AC unit is to remain in place. Contractor is required to perform hand work as needed to work around AC unit.

Q5. There’s a 1” old metal pipe in asphalt on 10 meter dome, can we remove it to place the back wedge?

A5. 1" metal pipe can be covered with asphalt. The metal pipe is an old "tie back" from previous work years ago.

Q6. Do we need to refill expansion joints to new concrete pads on N1 and N2 side? New concrete is spalling horribly because of high temperature setting and salt use. Expansion joints were filled with rubberized tar. Shall we use the same process?

A6. Refilling expansion joint cracks not required. Only fill/seal cracks in new concrete.

Q7. Was 6.1.1.1 a misprint with ‘asphalt concrete’? Was it supposed to be asphalt and concrete?

A7. The only concrete cracks required to be filled is at N2 entrance in concrete drive. All other areas are asphalt.

Q8. There’s an old and new asphalt line at the County road by guard gate. Is that the beginning of EROS property?

A8. The asphalt joint by guard gate where new and old asphalt meet shall be sealed.

Q9. 6.1.1.2 states to seal coat all asphalt around domes after wedge construction. Is this the only asphalt to be sealed?

A9. Yes

Q10. The entrance to EROS has rubber sealant deflecting, (pulling away), on the concrete joints. Is this part of the project?

A10. No
