Salient Characteristics The USGS Water Science needs to purchase one (1) snow water equivalent sensor. This equipment is intended to log a wide variety of data.
CR310 DATALOGGERS – BRAND NAME OR EQUAL
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
Leveling Base:
1. Shall connect to solar sensor mounting stand specs below.
2. Shall level the sensor in the horizontal plane, helping to ensure accurate solar radiation measurements.
3. Shall use a bubble level and three adjustable leveling screws to level the sensor.
Snow Water Equivalent Sensor:
4. Shall have measurement range from 600 mm maximum water equivalent.
5. Shall have accuracy at ±15 mm (from 0 to 300 mm) and ±15% (from 300 to 600 mm)
6. Shall have resolution at 1 mm.
7. Shall have coverage angle at 60°.
8. Shall have operating temperature range from -40° to +40°C.
9. Shall have power requirements from 11 to 15 Vdc.
10. Shall have power consumption at 180 mA.
11. Shall have RS-232 (1200 to 115200 bps) output format.
12. Shall have four conductor, two-twisted pair, 22 AWG, Santoprene jacket cable.
13. Shall have a 2-year warranty.
14. Shall have maximum cable length of 30 m (98.43 ft).
15. Shall have diameter no larger than 12.7 cm (5 in.).
16. Shall have length no longer than 62 cm (24.4 in.).
17. Shall have main body with weight no more than 9 kg (20 lb).
18. Shall have collimator weight no more than 25 kg (55 lb).
19. Shall have total weight no more than 34 kg (75 lb).
Sensor Cable:
20. Shall be compatible with the snow water equivalent sensor specs listed above.
21. Shall be 90 ft long with tinned wires.
22. Shall consist of a two-twisted pair, 22 AWG cable that has a Santoprene jacket.
Mounting Kit:
23. Shall be compatible with the snow water equivalent sensor specs listed above.
Right Angle Mounting Kit:
24. Shall be compatible with the snow water equivalent sensor specs listed above.
Moisture Profile Sensor:
25. Shall measure volumetric water content, permittivity, electrical conductivity, and temperature
26. Shall have maximum installation torque of 54 N m (40 ft⋅lb).
27. Shall have operating voltage range from 9 to 36 Vdc.
28. Shall have diameter no larger than 5.2 cm (2.05 in.) without threads and 5.8 cm (2.3 in.) including threads.
29. Shall be no larger than 0.55 m/1.05 m (21.5 in./41.2 in.) depending on the option ordered.
30. Shall weigh no more than 1.9 kg/3.6 kg (4.2 lb/7.9 lb) depending on the option ordered.
31. Shall have current drain when active at 64 mA (at 12 Vdc) and quiescent at 1.5 mA (at 12 Vdc).
32. Shall have measurement depths of 0.5 m 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 cm (2, 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 in.).
33. Shall have electrical conductivity range from 0 to 10 dS/m and accuracy at ±2% (0 to 2.5 dS/m) and ±5% (full range).
34. Shall have relative dielectric permittivity with range from 1 to 80 and accuracy at ±1 permittivity unit (between 4 and 42 permittivity).
35. Shall have volumetric water content accuracy at ±1.5% typical with most soils.
a. Soils with high organic matter (> 12% soil organic carbon) or high clay content (> 45% clay) may need a soil-specific calibration due to the dispersive nature of these materials.
36. Shall have soil temperature with accuracy at ± 0.15°C (between -30° and +40°C).
Installation Socket & Handle Kit:
37. Shall be compatible with the moisture profile sensor specs listed above.
38. Shall include the tools necessary to screw the sensor into a 5 cm (2 in.) hole that has been created with a user-supplied auger.
Collimator Assembly:
39. Shall be compatible with the snow water equivalent sensor specs listed above.
40. Shall weigh no more then 25 kg (55 lb).
