Salient Characteristics S19151 The USGS Water Science Center needs to purchase one (1) remote operated cableway gaging systems including wireless remote controls and winches.

This equipment will be added to existing cableways over rivers or steams to remotely make ADCP tethered boat flow measurements, reducing the risk of injury to field personnel.

CABLEWAY GAGING SYSTEM

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:

Cableway Gaging System:

1. Shall include wireless remote control and winch.

2. Shall be capable of working with acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP).

3. Shall be capable of operating by wireless remote control.

4. Shall have safety features to prevent accidental detachment.

5. Shall be capable of operating on steel cables from 5/8” to 1-1/4” diameter.

6. Should have adjustable traversing speed up to 0.6m/sec (2ft/sec).

7. Should have braking system that activates when stationary and releases when remote control is switched off.

8. Should automatically return to home position if communication is lost for 2 minutes or if battery is less than 10.5V.

9. Should operate on 12V 18Ah battery.

10. Shall have distance measurement 0.01m (0.01 ft) resolution.

11. Shall have 320W geared motor.

Wireless Remote Control:

12. Shall be portable and hand held.

13. Shall have a built-in charger.

14. Shall be capable of operating on 3 (three) NiMn 2.5Ah AA batteries in emergencies.

15. Shall be capable of operating in radio frequency license-free 868 MHz band, ISM band for short-range devices.

16. Shall have a communication range of 1300 ft (400 m) line of sight.

17. Shall have variable speed control capable to raise and lower cable control, forward and reverse control, and speed control.

18. Shall be capable of battery voltage monitoring.

19. Shall have LCD backlit readout with minimum of two (2) lines of sixteen (16) characters each.

20. Shall have LED indicators for communication, and errors.

Hoist:

21. Shall be compatible with the cable fox.

22. Shall operate off of the cable fox’s power.

23. Shall be able to lift ADCP out of the water with hoist.

24. Shall have lifting capacity of 220 lbs.

25. Shall have cable synthetic rope at least 12.2m (40ft) long.
