Salient Characteristics S19084 The USGS Water Science Center in West Sacramento, CA needs to purchase three (3) Autonomous Echosounder Surface Unit for bottom tracking in shallow water.
ECHOSOUNDER
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
Echosounder:
1. Shall have programmable LINUX-based embedded processor or equivalent.
2. Shall have wired or wireless ETHERNET control.
3. Shall have real-time depth and speed output via NMEA 0183.
4. Shall have internal DGPS with optional external interface.
5. Shall have metal, IP67 connectors.
6. Shall have high resolution, full color echogram.
7. Shall have system noise floor at 140dB.
8. Shall have dynamic range greater than 160dB.
9. Shall have selectable ping rates from 0.01 to 30 pps.
10. Shall have selectable pulse duration from 0.1 to 1.0 ms.
11. Shall have split beam detection range from 0.5 to 2,000 meters
12. Shall have transmit power at 1000 Watts RMS
13. Shall have input power at 11-26 VDC or 90-264 VAC
14. Shall have power consumption in active mode at 30 Watts and sleep mode at less than 1 Watt.
15. Shall be no larger than 49 cm (19”) long, 39 cm (15”) wide, 19 cm (8”) high, and weigh no more than 11.4kg (22 lbs.).
16. Shall include software for data collection and playback; software for processing/mapping SAV, substrate type, and bathymetry; software for real-time automated processing and track list creation; visual analyzer processing software for calculating fish biomass and fish density; and ruggedized system transport case.
Upgrade to Echosounder:
17. Shall be compatible with one of the echosounders, specs above.
18. Shall add 2nd transducer port.
Digital Transducer:
19. Shall be compatible with echosounder specs above.
20. Shall have signal digitization that provides SNR and overall data quality.
21. Shall have integrated orientation sensor.
22. Shall have 420 kHz frequency.
23. Shall have split beam.
24. Shall have ultra-low side lobes to -35 dB
25. Shall have network capable of up to 10 separate transducers at various frequencies
26. Shall have stainless-steel bulkhead and cable connectors.
27. Shall have anodized aluminum housings.
28. Shall weigh no more than 15lb.
29. Shall be no larger than 7.3" diameter and 6.25" height.
30. Shall include data collection, data analysis and real-time reporting software.
31. Shall have echosounder configuration and data collection/playback.
32. Shall have real-time processing and automated reporting for fisheries applications.
33. Shall have echo counting and echo integration for fish density and biomass estimation.
34. Shall have aquatic habitat mapping and assessment, measure plant canopy height and % coverage, SAV and substrate classification.

54. Shall have 1 m (40") long, PFA insulated cable.
55. Shall have 230ºC (450ºF) max temperature.
Digital Signal Deck Cable:
56. Shall be compatible with the echo sounder and transducer specs above.
57. Shall be 25L (FT) long.
58. Shall be a digital signal deck cable with metal shell connectors
59. Shall have integrated orientation sensor
60. Shall eliminate cable loss of received signal, as well as coupled and induced noise.
61. Shall be waterproof, rugged, and shielded to reduce noise.
62. Shall be a 16 conductor negatively buoyant cable with a tough polyurethane covering.
63. Shall have an outer diameter of 0.75" and a bending radius of 6".
64. Shall have metal shell dry and wet end connectors.
65. Shall have an O-ring along its outer circumference and in the bulkhead connector on the transducer insuring a waterproof seal.
66. Shall weigh no more than 5lbs.

67. Shall be compatible with the echo sounder and transducer specs above.
68. Shall be 500L (FT) long.
69. Shall be a digital signal deck cable with metal shell connectors
70. Shall have integrated orientation sensor
71. Shall eliminate cable loss of received signal, as well as coupled and induced noise.
72. Shall be waterproof, rugged, and shielded to reduce noise.
73. Shall be a 16 conductor negatively buoyant cable with a tough polyurethane covering.

Dual-Axis Mechanical Rotator:

Differential GPS Sensor:
80. Shall be compatible with all specs listed above.
81. Shall be no larger than 3-19/32" deep by 1-15/16" (91.6 mm x 49.5 mm) high.
82. Shall have a NMEA 2000 receiver/antenna or equivalent.
83. Shall provide position and velocity data through an external interface connection with the echosounder above.
84. Shall allow incorporation of the DGPS data into the echosounder receiver’s raw data file.
85. Shall have a cable length of at least 19’-8”.
Mount:
86. Shall be compatible with the transducer specs listed above.
87. Shall be no larger than 9 inches long by 9 inches wide.
88. Shall be fabricated hardware for mounting a transducer from a stationary platform or boat, with manual rotation capacity.
89. Shall be aluminum.
90. Shall allow transducer to swivel.
Software:
91. Shall allow user to read data and display echograms from supported systems.
92. Shall detect the bottom and define other reference lines.
93. Shall create 3D digital terrain models of the seabed and displays of 3D map data.
94. Shall perform basic quality control and conduct data analyses before exporting the results for use elsewhere.
Software:
95. Shall detect and analyze tracks of individual fishes and other targets from single and split beam data.
96. Shall count fishes and examine their behavior.
