STATEMENT OF REQUIREMENTS
TITLE: Procurement of a Colinear Five Laser Module with Focusing Optics
I. SPECIFICATIONS
The Contractor shall provide one (1) colinear, five laser module with focusing optics that meets or exceeds the following requirements:
System
▪ The collinear, five laser module shall have:
1. A 375 ± 3 nm laser with a max power 35 mW and beam diameter of <0.4 mm.
2. A 405 ± 2 nm laser with a max power 100 mW and beam diameter of <0.4 mm.
3. A 488 ± 2 nm laser with a max power 100 mW and beam diameter of <0.5 mm.
4. A 561 ± 2 nm laser with a max power 100 mW and beam diameter of <0.6 mm.
5. A 638 ± 3 nm laser with a max power 100 mW and beam diameter of <0.7 mm.
▪ The beam quality (all lasers) shall be: TEM00 1.2M2
▪ Polarization (all lasers) shall be: Vertical relative to baseplate of module.
▪ All lasers shall be collinear.
▪ The 5-lasers and optics shall be in a fully sealed module for the lasers’ and optics’ protection and user’s safety.
▪ Notch filters shall be built into module to clean up laser background (max power specified above is after notch filter).
▪ The Contractor shall integrate the colinear, five laser module with the current sample and fluorescence detection system.
▪ The 1st focused beam waist at the sample shall have a diameter of 100 mm.
▪ The 2nd focused beam waist at the sample shall have a diameter of 10 mm.
▪ The laser beams from the five lasers shall all be built and aligned to be exactly overlapped in the sample, no re-adjustment or re-alignment shall be needed when switching from 100mm beam sizes to 10 mm beam sizes.
▪ Neutral density filter wheel with filters of optical density of 0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 shall be positioned before the focusing optics on the module and shall be motorized to switch from one filter to the next via software.
▪ A motorized beam block shall be positioned before the focusing optics on the module and controlled via software.
▪ Upon installation, the Contractor shall ensure that:
1. The beam height above the laser is equal to 178 mm (7”).
2. The working distance of the module from the center of the sample cuvette shall be 70 mm.
3. The working distance of the focusing optics from the center of the sample cuvette shall be 30 mm.
Software
▪ The Contractor shall provide one (1) software that is custom-specific USB Hub and graphic user interface software (or equivalent) for complete hands-free operation of the test fixture and precise control for the testing.
▪ The software shall be capable of:
1. Turning lasers on and off, individually, and set their power outputs.
2. Operating a motorized beam block.
3. Operating a motorized ND filter wheel.
Manual The Contractor shall provide one (1) hardcopy operations and maintenance manual covering proper operation, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting for the instrument and controlling software.
Installation The Contractor shall install the instrument at 100 Bureau Drive, Building 227, Room B151, Gaithersburg, MD 20899. Installation shall include, at a minimum, uncrating/unpacking of all equipment, set-up and hook-up of all equipment, start-up, demonstration of specifications, and removal of all trash. Instrument will operate to manufacturer’s specifications upon installation. Installation shall take place during normal business hours, between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday except Federal Holidays, and shall be coordinated with the NIST Contracting Officers Representative (COR). Installation shall occur within 10 days after receipt of instrument.
Training:
The Contractor shall include onsite training for up to 2 NIST personnel at 100 Bureau Drive, Building 227, Room B151, Gaithersburg, MD 20899. Installation shall cover normal operation, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance, including the laser measurement, testing, and software calibration after the installation of the complete 5-laser module. Training shall be provided during normal business hours, between 8:30am and 5:00pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, except Federal Holidays, and shall be coordinated with the NIST Contracting Officers Representative (COR) to ensure maximum availability of NIST personnel.
Warranty:
The Contractor shall provide, at a minimum, a one year warranty for the equipment. The warranty shall cover all parts, labor and travel. The warranty shall commence upon Government acceptance.
II. GOVERNMENT FURNISHED PROPERTY
The colinear, five laser module shall be incorporated into the existing NIST laser fluorescence spectrometer used for ERF assignments of calibration beads for quantitative flow cytometry. The spectrometer part of the optical system was produced by Horiba. No modifications have been made from the system's original design.
