About this file
This document contains questions and answers relating to the requirements for an optical-access cryogenic measurement system solicitation. The solicitation seeks a system capable of achieving a base temperature of 0.9K before single-shot operation, with requirements for maximum height of 1.5 meters and ease of use. Questions address specifics of the temperature, height, and usability requirements, with answers clarifying that a 0.9K base temperature is required for both continuous and single-shot operation and setting the maximum height at 1.5 meters. The related federal contract opportunity is for an optical-access cryogenic measurement system issued by the Department of Commerce National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Questions and Answers
1. Ref. point D of the requirements for line item 0001, relating to the base temperature: Is a base temperature of 0.9K required during single-shot or continuous operation?
Answers: This is required before single-shot. Whether continuous or single-shot, we require a base temperature of 0.9 K.
2. Ref. points G iii and G iv, relating to system height and ease of use: In order to achieve a maximum height of <1.5m we would supply the system without a support frame. This means a crane will be needed each time the sample is to be changed. Is this acceptable? Or would an increased maximum height be preferred in order to allow sample change without the use of a crane?
Answers: The use of a crane is acceptable.
3. Is there a maximum acceptable mechanical noise?
Answers: Please see the updated specifications document where this was removed.
4. Was there an error in the base temperature that was listed as milliWatt (mW) and should have been microWatt (uW).
Answers: An error was made in the requirements and should have been listed as microWatt (uW). This correction has been made on the updated Requirements Document.
5. The requirements for "low noise (both mechanical and electrical) for doing very sensitive electrical measurements" are not defined in the solicitation. Can you define?
Answers: This statement was considered confusing and was removed from the updated Requirements Document.
