STATEMENT OF REQUIREMENTS
Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer to Couple Existing Ion Chromatography and Liquid Chromatography Systems
I. REQUIREMENTS
The Contractor shall provide one (1) that meets or exceeds the following requirements:
II. SPECIFICATIONS
System Requirements
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall be fully interoperable with a Thermo ICS-5000 ion chromatography system.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall be fully interoperable with a Thermo Verispray ionization source.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall be fully interoperable with an IonSense DART-SVP ion source.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall operate using 120 V or 240 V line voltage with a footprint not exceeding 36” by 36”.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall be capable of operating on a maximum of 100 psi pure nitrogen, argon, and/or helium only.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall come equipped with a combination electrospray / atmospheric pressure chemical ionization source.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall have a low mass cut of range of 10 m/z or lower and an upper mass range of 1,000 m/z or higher.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall have spectral acquisition rates between of at least 1 spectra per second to 25 spectra per second.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall be capable of rapid polarity switching (with a switch time of less than 50 msec).
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall be capable of at least 500 SRMs per second.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall have a dynamic range of at least 106.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall have sensitivity for cocaine and trinitrotoluene at a level of at least 10 ppb.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall allow for variation of in-source fragmentation (in-source collision induced dissociation) that can be controlled and cycled throughout an acquisition.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall have a mass resolution of at least 0.5 Da.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall allow for rapid (<10 min) changing between operation with an ion chromatography system and the VeriSpray system.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall be capable of accepting electrospray ionization, atmospheric pressure chemical ionization, atmospheric pressure photoionization, direct analysis in real time, paperspray ionization, and other ambient ionization sources.
Manual
· The contractor shall provide one (1) operations and maintenance manual (electronic copy) stating the manufacturer’s operating standards, and directions on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Software
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall be capable of operating on the same software package as the ion chromatography and Verispray systems.
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall include Chromeleon® software (used to operate the ion chromatography and VeriSpray systems), version 7.2 or higher. The Contractor may propose use of different software, but the Contractor must demonstrate that the software is capable of running the existing systems.
· The Software shall allow for complete integration of the ion chromatography and liquid chromatography systems with the triple quadrupole mass spectrometer.
Hardware
· The triple quadrupole mass spectrometer shall come with an appropriate computer system (at least Windows 10, CPU, monitor, keyboard, mouse).
Warranty
· The Contractor shall include at least a one (1) year warranty on the mass spectrometer which shall begin upon acceptance of the system from the Government, to include the following:
1. One routine and preventative maintenance visit per year to ensure long-term performance and reliability of the instrument.
2. Dispatch of a technician for emergency service when the instrument becomes inoperable or fails to perform to specifications due to a failure in the instrument.
3. Replacement of defective parts with parts approved for use by the Original Equipment Manufacturer.
Installation The contractor shall install the instrument in the NIST Laboratory Gaithersburg, MD within 30 days of delivery. Installation shall include, at minimum, uncrating/unpacking of all equipment, set-up, and hook-up of all equipment, instrument start-up, demonstration of instrument performance with the specifications and removal of any trash. The LCMS shall operate to manufacturers specifications upon installation.
Training the contractor shall provide training for up to three (3) NIST personnel instructing them on proper use, troubleshooting, and basic system maintenance. Training shall be provided during normal business hours, between 8:30am and 5:00pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, except Federal Holidays, and will be coordinated with the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) to ensure maximum availability of NIST personnel. Training is to occur within 10 days of installation. The training may be completed on-site at NIST immediately after installation and demonstration of specifications
