Amendments and clarifications to the Bridger Plant Materials Center concrete construction solicitation

I. In relation to the replacement of the concrete apron on the west side of the shop/machine shed (see Statement of Work, Section D), the contractor is required to remove and dispose of the existing frost-free hydrant and culvert (see Figure 1 below). These materials, as well as the rest of the concrete apron, shall be properly disposed of in an approved landfill or recycling facility. The contractor will replace the old frost-free hydrant with a new one (provided by NRCS), backfill the hole with gravel to required sub-base grade, and wrap the hydrant where it is likely to be in contact with the new concrete with a sleeve of weather resistant foam to allow expansion and contraction of the concrete without damaging the hydrant. The new concrete apron will be poured up to the foam sleeve and hydrant, covering the previous opening.

II. In relation to the replacement of the sidewalk on the east side of the shop/machine shed (see Statement of Work, Section B), the contractor is required to remove and dispose of the existing frost-free hydrant and culvert (see Figure 2 below) at the north end of the walk.

These materials, as well as the rest of the sidewalks, shall be properly disposed of in an approved landfill or recycling facility. The contractor will plug/cap the opening in the existing water line with a threaded plug, backfill the existing hole with gravel to the required sub-base grade, and then pour the new concrete sidewalk over top of the backfilled hole.
