Upper Chiquito Creek Bridge Site Visit June 25, 2019
Q. The precast panel dimension in the design is not the standard 48” per the fabricator.
A. Bid the project per the design dimensions.
Q. There is a long lead time for the fabrication of the voided panels, this may push the completion of the bridge to 2020. The SOW has the completion in 2019. What then?
A. If weather shuts the project down for the winter, then a Suspend Work Order will be issued. Time will Resume when area is accessible which may be in 2020.
Q. Is all the concrete to be removed? Will blasting be required?
A. All concrete is to be removed. Blasting if necessary will be according to Section 205 which is referenced from Section 208.
Q. The bridge was built in 1952, it’s likely to have lead paint on the beams and asbestos in the shims/expansion material.
A. Test results have come back, lead paint is confirmed present on the beams and asbestos is not present. See amendment to the solicitation for pay item 203(01)A for Disposal of hazardous material according to federal, state and local regulations. Pay item 203(01)A will be for lead paint abatement, and additional requirements of delivery to a hazardous waste facility. This pay item is in addition to 203(01) Removal of Bridge.
Q. Do the bridges on the detour have restrictions?
A. Bridges have no restrictions with legal loads.
