Recycle Bin and Bear Proof Storage Locker Installation Project
Pacific and Placerville Ranger Districts
Statement of Work
Description of Work:
The intent of this contract is to construct concrete footings and anchoring forms for 35 (new) recycling containers (Bear Saver model MDYP-LL) and 21 Bear proof storage lockers (Bear
Saver model FS24-RCE repurposed) See attached documents for specifications of each of the units. The awarded contractor will fabricate the form and transport/place the containers in their locations provided on various sites located on the Eldorado National Forest In the Crystal Basin
Recreation Areas. (Pacific Ranger District), and Lovers Leap Campground (Placerville Ranger
District). Locations on maps are for reference only Forest Service personnel will direct the contractor of exact locations at each areas of work to be done. (See attached maps for approximate placement locations. Some locations do not have maps provided).
Fabricate concrete forms for a combination of recycling containers and food lockers for a total of 56.
Contractor will build concrete pad forms off-site from the recreation areas due to the seasonal use of recreation sites.
Pad placement will be partially above ground surface and not more than halfway above ground surface. Ground preparation for placement of the pads will be the contractor’s responsibility.
Anchoring bolts will protrude beyond 1-1/2” above concrete surface to satisfy solid long term anchoring.
The concrete foundation(s) will support and anchor the containers in place for longevity and resistance to heavy snow load rating.
Footer construction will consist of the following:
Threaded ½” J style bolts or expanded anchoring x4 at each pad.
2x4 stud wood to create forms.
Rebar for reinforcement of concrete pads.
32 concrete footers each at 4” x 36” x 56” (Recycling Bins).
21 concrete footers each at 4 “x 32” x 52” (Bear Proof Storage Lockers)
Contractor Responsibility: The contractor shall provide all necessary tools, supplies, labor, and supervision of the contract to complete the project, Contractor will notify the officiating contracting representative about damages occurred during transportation, placement and handling of the containers. Major damage to the container(s) that render the container(s) non-serviceable will be covered by the contractor.
Estimated Start Date and Contract Time:
Start: The estimated start is 07/01/2018.
Time: Estimated contract timeframe is 120 days, or 07/01/2018 through 10/31/2018. Hours of work will be no earlier than 0800 and no later than 1730 hours. The contracting unit will work between Monday and Friday with the exclusion of holidays. The contractor will not work in campground units that are occupied by the recreating public.
Delivery of Containers: The recycle containers and bear boxes (qty. 56) have been delivered to the Crystal Information Admin Site Location at 11000 Ice House Rd. on 04/14/2018. The contact for the acquisition of the contract is Jason Spence or Karl Goodwin on the Pacific Ranger
District, El Dorado NF. The Pacific Ranger District is located at 7887 Highway 50 Pollock
Pines, California 95826.
