Hay Barn for Double Devil Wild Horse Corrals (129AC719Q0060) Questions and Answers Document
Subsequent versions of this document will contain questions from all previous versions.
Version 1: 07/30/2019
Q1 - Are there any drawings available or are we to Design and Build as our proposal?
A1 – There are no drawings available as we are wanting a proposed design and your plan to build that design
Q2 - Could you please clarify the size or dimensions of the pole barn, it says 675 tons but doesn’t give a size of the bail? Also if you could clarify the amount of bails that you would need stored? Thanks for your time.
A2 - We are flexible with the size and dimensions as long as the barn meets our basic specifications included with the solicitation. Ultimately we're trying to get the most bang for our buck (as big as possible). The size of hay bales vary with the market and availability. We are anticipating generally larger bales which are typically ~4’ X 4’ X 8’ which are approximately one ton each.
Q3 - I appears that this solicitation requires a bid bond so need a bit more info for the surety. What is the bid bond amount – 10%? What is the warranty – 1 year? Are there liquidated Damages?
A3 – Based on the magnitude of construction of this project, there is no bid bond required for this job, however payment protection of the successful awardee will be required after contract award as stated in the solicitation if quote is over $35,000.00. Block 13b incorrectly states an offer guarantee is required. The warranty is as stated in Federal Acquisition Regulation FAR clause 52.246-21 which is 1 year from the date of final acceptance of work. There are no liquidated damages.
Q4 – Do you intend to use spikes/spears or a grapple on the skid steer?
A4 – Currently we are using fork attachments on the skid steer inserted under the bale but are in the process of acquiring spears to be able to use. In addition, we also have and currently use a backhoe that also has fork attachments. The backhoe has a reach of six bales high as opposed to the ~9 feet of the skid steer which allows for three bales high. Both machines are currently being used.
