2. Roadway excavation and embankment, from the beginning of the road down to the first curve raise the outer edge of the road two feet with select borrow material and grade towards the inside edge of road. The intention is to lessen the degree of out slope on the road.
3. Aggregate surfacing:
a. 70 tons to surface over the pipe
b. 130 tons for over the beginning of the road after placing embankment.
c. 170 tons for spot surfacing at:
i. Mile post 1.6 – 50 tons
ii. Mile post 2.5 – 70 tons
iii. Mile post 3.4 – 50 tons
4. Replace culvert at mile post 1.0 as Shown on the Drawings, including gabion headwall and wing walls. Place perforated pipe along haunches of the pipe surrounded with granular backfill and geotextile filter fabric. Do not place pipe until bed is approved by the Contracting Officer.
Shape road so there is no potential for diversion down road in case of culvert failure either with a dip in the road or a rolling dip feature as close to the pipe as possible.
5. Construction Schedule: People live at the end of 13N14 and must have some accommodation for access to and from their property every day. The contractor shall submit a schedule that minimizes the time required to prohibit vehicle traffic at the culvert removal site. The contractor shall also maintain a walking trail for the family so they can access staged vehicles at each side of the closure.
