DJI Matrice 200 or Equivalent (Hexacopter Drone) Q&A

Q: Would a drone other than the DJI Matrice 200 (Hexacopter Drone) be acceptable?

A: Yes, so long as it meets all of the technical requirement listed in the posting’s description and Statement of Work. That is why it is stated “DJI Matrice 200 or Equivalent (Hexacopter Drone)” on the posting. Just be sure if you submit a quote with any equivalent items to specify which items you will be substituting on the quotation form (SF-18).

Q: Will training be required as part of the procurement?

A: No, training will be acquired separately once the end user’s needs have been determined.

Q: What type of airspace will the drone be flying in?

A: Federal airspace.

Q: Are you aware that the DJI Matrice 200 is a Chinese made drone and that there are restrictions/bans on their use?

A: Yes, we are aware of the manufacturer and the restrictions/bans. However, the bans apply to use of Chinese software for the drone and we will be acquiring the software separately and from an approved source. The USDA is also permitted to use these types of drones over USDA owned land. Meaning that the restrictions/bans mentioned do not apply in this case.
