A achment 14 – Ques ons and Answers 1240LS23Q0136 - Forest Raptor Nest Survey

September 19, 2023

Ques on 1: How o en are these surveys conducted in the area?

Answer 1: Surveys are conducted every three to five years unless a biologist determines they need to be completed more frequently.

Ques on 2: Is there a previous report that we could referred to?

Answer 2: There is no previous report that can be released. The solicita on describes the repor ng requirements and associated data collec on program.

Ques on 3: Is the requirement for a single visit or mul ple visits to each survey loca on? At this point my price per unit acre reflects one visit per acre.

Answer 3: The survey does allow for mul ple visits (field days) to perform survey coverage.

Ques on 4: At this point the only required survey is for the Groundhog Unit, to be completed ASAP this fall, correct? All other units will be awarded based on budget?

Answer 4: Correct – which can be implemented Nov 1st 2023 – July 31st, 2024.

Ques on 5: Are there any access issues for any of the units (private property, locked gates, etc.)?

Answer 5: There should not be any access issues for any of the units.

Ques on 6: Will you provide shape files of the survey unit boundaries?

Answer 6: The shape files of the survey unit boundaries will be provided upon award.

Ques on 7: Data collec on will be electronic Survey123 forms provided by Forest Service, with no requirement for paper data forms, correct?

Answer 7: Correct. Data collec on will be electronic Survey123 forms provided by the Forest Service.

Ques on 8: Please confirm that the Level of Effort (LOE) involves comple ng two surveys within the survey season, as is recommended in the USFS guidance. Is this correct?

Answer 8: The Forest Service will not require two complete surveys in a single season.

There is a recommenda on in the Northern Goshawk Inventory monitoring and technical guide (USDA July 2006) that recommends two surveys in a single season for sta s cal reasons, but we will only require one survey per season per single unit for this par cular contract.

We are not ignoring the sta s cal needs but the technical guide is wri en for a larger, regional approach.

We are only looking for the presence/absence of species in a par cular unit.
