Statement of Work for Gravel Hauling

The USDA, Agricultural Research Service has a need for transporting Primary Reject and Pit Run Gravel from the State of Idaho gravel source (Pit #JF17) to the U.S. Sheep Experiment Station Dubois, which is located 4 miles north (exit 172) of Dubois, Idaho and the Mud Lake Facility which is located 1 mile west of Mud Lake Idaho on Highway #33. The gravel source is located 5.5 miles south of the junction of State Highway 28 and 22 at Milepost 25 on Highway 28.

Following are the requirements of the job:

Provide all labor, supplies and equipment necessary to Load, Transport and Unload, Primary Reject and Pit Run gravel from the Idaho State Transportation Department’s pit JF#17. The primary reject and pit run gravel is currently piled, separately, on the south side of Highway #28.

A. Contractor may use standard Dump trucks, Belly/Side/ End dumps for hauling the reject gravel. Contractor is responsible for verifying mileage between the gravel location and each delivery site.

B. Contractor must furnish a loader and operator at the Idaho State Gravel Source that is capable of loading the transport trucks. The gravel will be hauled in bulk.

C. Gravel shall be unloaded in a designated area at the USDA/ARS headquarters location and the Mud Lake Facility location. An ARS employee, using government equipment, will pile the loads of gravel that has been delivered, daily.

D. Gravel can only be delivered during the period, Monday – Friday (no holidays), 6:00 am – 8:00 pm.

E. Each load of gravel delivered to USDA/ARS will have a weigh slip from a certified scale. There is a scale located in Dubois and scales around Terreton/Mud Lake area. Contractor is responsible for making arrangements to use the certified scales. Each weigh slip must have a net weight.

F. The quantity at Dubois, is 1000 cubic yards of primary reject and 1000 cubic yards of pit run gravel.

Option #1 – Additional 1000 cubic yards Primary Reject Gravel.

G. The quantity at Mud Lake is 1000 cubic yards of gravel.

Option #2: Additional 1000 cubic yards Primary Reject Gravel.

H. Payment will be made based on a total cubic yards delivered.

I. Each cubic yard of primary reject gravel weighs 2,465 pounds. Each truck load of gravel weight will be divided by 2,465 in order to determine the total cubic yards of primary reject gravel delivered.

J. Each cubic yard of pit run weighs 2,524.5 pounds. Each truck load of gravel weight will be divided by 2,524.5 in order to determine the total cubic yards of pit run gravel delivered.

K. Period of Performance is May 14, 2108 through August 31, 2018 L. Site visit April 26, 2018, 9am, at Dubois Headquarters. Site visit will include looking at the Dubois and Mud Lake delivery sites and the State Pit JF#17

M. Contractor is responsible for leaving the State Gravel Pile (area which gravel is removed from) in a manner the State requests, removing the contractors trash, slope of remaining pile (No vertical faces).

ARS will provide load counts to the ISTD and remove the ARS lock that was added to the entrance gate.
