Text version

The Adaptive Cropping Systems Lab is requesting the construction of a replacement set of 12 Soilbin chamber tops. The chamber tops are a direct replacement for an existing set of chambers and must fit onto the current support stand and attach to an existing air-handling unit. The chambers are constructed entirely of ½” clear acrylic, use Evonik 190 to glue together, and have reinforcing strips on the joints. The finished product must be annealed to reduce the internal stresses.

The units are a 6 sided polygon with an internal air deflector, an open base, and a hole to attach to the existing air handler. The bottom of the chamber measures 86 inches by 62 inches and sits on a base. The entire bottom of the chamber is open. The front panel of the chamber is 86 inches wide by 67.50 inches high. The angled front panel is 86 inches wide by 37.52 inches high. The roof panel is 86 inches by 35.55 inches. The back panel is 86 inches wide by 96.36 inches high and has a hole located at the bottom of the panel that is 78.5 inches by 18.88 inches, which is where the connection to the air handler occurs. The internal air deflector is 5.03 inches from the back wall, 35 inches long, and sits 13.03 inches from the bottom of the back panel. The side panels are 62.0 inches wide, 67.50 inches in the front, 96.36 inches in the back, the front angle is 37.52 inches and the top is 35.55inches. At the bottom of the unit 0.5 inch holes are required to attach the unit to the existing base.
