Statement of Work
Repair/Update of passenger and freight elevator at the
USDA National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment 1015 North University Boulevard
Ames, Iowa 50011
1.0 Scope of Work
The USDA National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment, 1015 North University Boulevard, Ames, IA, 500101 has a requirement to have the passenger and freight elevators repaired and updated.
1.1 Elevator updates:
Elevator #1 (passenger) – State ID #: 6929 Inspect and repair elevator pump unit (Montgomery Model 451HME, Pump Part Number: 22453 Install Code Data Plates Reduce door close torque to 30 lbs. or less Install keyed in-car stop switch in car operating panel Provide maintenance records
Elevator #2 (freight) – State ID #: 6930 Inspect and repair elevator pump unit (Montgomery Model 451H, Pump Part Number: 22453 Install Code Data Plates Install a car top light Install timed auto-close door feature Number all elevators consecutively, crossheads, toe guards, controllers and main line disconnects Provide maintenance records
1.2 Pump repair/replacement:
The Contractor shall evaluate each pump separately and determine if a rebuild or replacement is needed to eliminate leaks. Provide pricing for each option.
2.0 Contractor/vendor Qualifications
Work on/for this project shall be completed by technicians with at least 5 years of experience and fully trained and current on repair and maintaining Montgomery elevator systems.
3. 0 General NLAE Site Requirements
NLAE as located on the Iowa State University campus, parking is limited. There is a loading dock for loading and unloading equipment. There is a freight elevator available for moving equipment and parts to the basement level. The capacity of the freight elevator is 12,000 pounds.
3.1 Site Security Access
1. Access to the site is controlled by a security door locks and visitor/contractor check-in/check-out system. All contractor/subcontractor employees shall sign-in and out at the main site entrance gate and wear a contractor/visitor identification badge at all times while on the site.
The ID badges will be turned in at the end of the work day. A current government-issued identification with a picture ID is required for entry.
2. Contractor vehicles will be allowed access adjacent to the work.
3. Work shall be generally confined to the immediate area of the elevators.
4. Additional security requirements may be imposed when the Federal Government raises the
Homeland Security Alert Level. Additional directions will be provided if the situation occurs.
5. Failure to comply with access requirements shall be adequate grounds for removal of the
Contractor/subcontractor employees from the site and barring further site access to individuals.
3.2 Work Hours:
Regular work hours for the site are 7:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays. Work scheduled outside normal work hours shall be coordinated with the Government’s representative.to comply with escort and security notification requirements. Emergency after hour service is a requirement.
4.0 Schedule:
All work will to be scheduled with the Government’s representative. All work will need to be completed with 30 days of notice to proceed.
