2. List the proposed vendor/contractor (name, contact, and phone number) and describe the unique knowledge or capabilities of the proposed vendor/contractor: (e.g. your explanation should provide the rationale for using the recommended product to be purchased from a specific vendor/contractor. The justification must clearly explain what is unique about the technical features of the product and/or if the identical product is required to maintain continuity of research data).

3. FAR Authority:

FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i).

4. Certification:

I hereby certify that the data provided above is accurate and complete to the best of my knowledge and belief.

Typed/Printed Name and Signature of Technical Representative Date

Text1: Our laboratory analyzes fruit and fruit juice samples for experiments in our CRIS Project, # 6034-41430-006-00D, “Quality, Shelf-life and Health Benefits for Fresh, Fresh-cut and Processed Products for Citrus and other Tropical/subtropical-grown Fruits and Vegetables”. We had a titrator with autosampler purchased in 2006 to measure titratable acidity in fruits and juices, but in 2017, it started showing signs of aging. We were able to replace a part that had become defective (burette casing) and run the instrument for another year, but Metrohm warned us that this instrument was not in production anymore, and they were not supplying replacement parts. On July 23, 2018, the robotic of the titrator completely failed, while we currently have more than 400 samples in the freezer waiting to be analyzed. We already have the software, Tiamo v.2.5, that controls the instrument and where all the data are stored. That software was purchased in 2015 and is compatible with the next generation titrator. Estimated dollar value of a replacement unit: $35,000.00
Text2: The proposed replacement autotitrator is from Metrohm, for which we already have the software that controls the unit and some of the accessories (sample cups, reagent bottles and aspirating pump for system cleanout). The 2017-2018 data for the samples that were already analyzed are stored in the Tiamo software, and for consistency, the remaining samples should be analyzed using the same system. The proposed replacement robotic titrator has a 32-sample changer, which will double our capacity to analyze samples.

Product specifications:

1. Potentiometric titrator that measures initial pH and performs endpoint and/or inflexion point titrations for fruit juices and beverages.

2. Demonstrate ability to obtain precise and accurate measurements.

3. Generates reproducible data.

4. Automated robotics with high throughput.

5. Flexibility to use different titrants.
