SPECIFICATIONS
The Sustainable Biofuels and Coproducts Research Unit (SBCP) at the USDA-ARS Eastern Regional Research Center requires a Bench-top quadrupole transmission-based gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GC-MS) and hyphenation system for Perkin Elmer TGA-8000.
Bench-top quadrupole transmission based gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GC-MS) and hyphenation system for Perkin Elmer TGA-8000.
Quantity: 1
Unit Type: Complete System- New
Minimum Requirements of the complete system:
Hyphenation Requirement:
1. The transfer line and the cell must be capable of heating up to 350°C and should have mass flow control of the evolved gas analysis for a balanced flow system.
2. Needs to be able to control the gas flow throughout the entire system.
3. Must have trigger mechanism for an automatic trigger between the Perkin Elmer 8000 TGA and GC-MS. The trigger must be able to be started and stopped automatically to guarantee automated analysis of the samples.
4. Must automatically trigger between the Perkin Elmer 8000 TGA and GC-MS
Gas Chromatograph with 2 injectors(GC with one Inert Capillary Split/Split less injector and Temperature programable split/Split less injector):
1. GC OVEN
a. Temperature range: above ambient +3.50C to 4500C with user selectable temperature ramp function and be able to start will al temperature zones at the starting temperature and be able to ramp the temperature up to the final higher temperature.
b. Ramp rate: Set from 0 0C/ min to 120 0C/ min in at least 0.1 0C/ min or better increments
c. Oven Cool Down: 450 to 50 Deg C in 4.0 minutes or better
d. Ramps: At least 20 ramps and with at least 21 plateaus
2. GC touch screen to access most functions is expected.
3. Autonomous Diagnostic Tests that are configurable to run in background at specific points in the analysis workflow to ensure that flows are correct and split vent is working properly and tank pressure is adequate prior to each run.
EI MSD (Mass Spectrometer)
| 1. Mass Range | : 1.00 to 1200 amu or better | |
| 2. Analyzer | : True Quadrupole Mass Filter | |
| 3. Mass stability | : +/- 0.1 m/z mass accuracy over 48 hrs or better. |
4. Pumping System : Single Turbo molecular Pump with pumping capacity of at least 250 L/Sec or better
| 5. Ionization modes | : Electron Ionization | |
| 6. Detector | : Electron Multiplier |
7. Interface Temp : 500C - 3500C or better
8. Source Temp : 500C - 3500C or better
9. Scanning Mode : The system should be able to perform selected and full Ion scanning mode for simultaneously acquiring data.
10. SIM/Scan : Automated SIM & SIM/Scan operation simultaneously
11. Sensitivity for full Scan: EI mode 1500:1 or better
| 12. Libraries (Original) | : NIST | |
| 13. Scanning Rate | : 12,500 amu/sec or better |
14. The ion source temperature is settable to 350 °C and the quadrupole can heat up to 200 °C (if necessary) to keep clean and improve analysis.
15. Instrument Detection Limit (IDL) of 10 fg (EI) demonstrated at installation checkout. IDL statistically derived at 99% confidence level from the area precision of eight sequential splitless injections of OFN. IDL checkout uses 100 fg, 1 µL injection, a 30-meter column, helium carrier gas. This checkout is to assure performance for low level analytes.
16. Oil Free Scroll Pump to serve as roughing pump
DETECTORS:
1. System must be capable of effluent splitting, back flushing & column switching/changing without breaking of vacuum along with software-controlled splitter to acquire chromatograms for at least 2 detectors simultaneously with one injection only.
2. Purged splitter for column effluent split to two detectors.
3. Ion Gauge kit
Software:
1. The software will be installed on our current computer and must be compatible with Perkin Elmers Pyris software.
2. Must communicate with the Pyris Perkin-Elmer Software for the Perkin-Elmer TGA 8000.
3. Software will automatically trigger between the Perkin-Elmer TGA 8000 and the GC-MS.
4. There should be no third-party software to control either the Perkin-Elmer TGA-8000 or the GC-MS.
5. The software will communicate with both the Perkin-Elmer TGA 8000 and GC-MS and will be able to control the mass flow of the gases throughout the entire system.
