About this file
This specification sheet outlines requirements for a semi-automated microbroth dilution assay system to be used by the USDA Agricultural Research Service Molecular Characterization of Foodborne Pathogens Research in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania. The system must include microbroth dilution assay plates to test foodborne pathogen resistance to antibiotics monitored by NARMS, an automated inoculation system equivalent to the Sensitier AIM, an automated fluorometric plate reader equivalent to the OptiRead System, consolidating software equivalent to Sensititer SWIN, and an inoculum standardization system equivalent to the Sensititer Nephelometer. Specifications are required to be precise to minimize model-to-model variation. The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 12305B23Q0217-B for a semi-automated microbroth dilution assay system from the USDA Agricultural Research Service Field Research Implementation and Information Delivery Northeast Area.

Specification Sheet
Background
USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Molecular Characterization of Foodborne Pathogens Research (MCFPR) in Wyndmoor, PA requires a semi-automated microbroth dilution assay system brand name or equal to Thermo Scientific Sensititer System. This equipment will be used to identify antibiotic resistant foodborne pathogens. The Sensititer system provides a gold standard microbroth dilution assay for accurate and reliable determination of antimicrobial resistance for foodborne pathogens.
Requirements
• Microbroth dilution assay system combined with standard antibiotic sensitivity testing plates that test resistance of enteric bacteria against antibiotics currently monitored by National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System (NARMS) will be needed for reliable determination of antibiotic resistance in foodborne pathogens.
• Automated sample loading system, brand name or equal to Sensitier AIM automated inoculation delivery system to prevent technical error and increase the efficiency of work quickly and with high accuracy.
• Automated fluorometric plate reading system, brand name or equal to OptiRead System for fast and accurate plate reading.
• Single software platform to consolidate entire test program, brand name or equal to Sensititer SWIN software system to consolidate the entire test program on a single software platform efficiently and allow for efficient workflow to interpret the results and generate reports.
• Inoculum standardization system, brand name or equal to Sensititer Nephelometer for reproducible data quality.
• Specifications must be precise to minimize the variation due to model-to-model variation.
