TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR FIRE COMMAND VEHICLES

LIGHT BAR

The light bar will be ordered in the size to appropriately fit the vehicle it is intended to be mounted on. Generally 48-50 inches for mid size SUV’s and 52-55 inches for full size SUV’s and pickups. The light bar will be mounted with the use of pedestal mounting brackets (Light Bar mount kit #MK 20S or equivalent) sized to fit the vehicle.

Lighting will be a Whelen Liberty II Solo IX or equivalent and will consist of low profile, light emitting diode (LED) or a combination of LED and strobe lighting.

Lenses will be clear with internal LED or strobe lighting illuminating the corresponding color as described in the specifications and lighting schematic sheet.

The lighting schematic will be set as follows:

(unless State guidelines differ)

Two (2) forward facing white takedown modules in the two center positions Two (2) Alley lights mounted one on each end Two (2) forward facing, steady red modules, one outboard of each takedown light Two (2) forward facing, flashing red modules, one outboard of each steady red module Four (4) corner position red flashing modules A traffic advisor shall be installed/integrated into the rear facing portion of the light bar. The traffic advisor shall consist of six (6) or more amber lights

SIREN SPEAKER

Siren speakers will be compact and a minimum of 100 watts.

Recommended speakers :

Whelen Compact Federal Signal Gall’s 100 Watt Part No. SA315P Dynamax Concealment Part No. ES100 Part No. SK145

Mounting brackets and locations will vary due to make and model of vehicles.

CONTROL HEAD

The control head must be similar to the Whelen 9 switch light control Part No.

295HFSA. The 295HFSA is no longer in production, the 295SLSA6 or Whelen CenCom CCSRN3** Control module equipped with the traffic advisor or equivalent is acceptable.

Installation of control head shall include wiring existing Forest Service Bendix King radio into the control module to enable PA and Radio broadcasting.

The 3 position control will be wired as follows:

Pos. 1 Rear ambers

Pos. 2 Rear ambers + rear inboard + rear outboard + grille lights

Pos. 3 Light bar red lenses + grille lights + flashing alley and takedown lights

Push button functions will be set as follows:

1 Left alley

2 Right alley

3 Take down lights

4 Left amber traffic advisory

5 Right amber traffic advisory

6 All amber traffic advisory lights

All other push button functions reserved for future use

CENTER CONSOLE

Radio and equipment consoles will be sized to accommodate siren/light control head, FS radio, and other standard electrical or communication equipment if needed (CB radio, scanner, etc.).

Consoles similar to Troy Products consoles, Models CC-MC-22, CC-MC-25 or CC-MC- 30 will be installed with the appropriate floor mount dependent upon the make and model of vehicle.

Some vehicle makes and models may not allow ordering of a transmission shift on the column. If necessary, a console accommodating a floor shift may need to be ordered by contacting Troy Products with the vehicle information.

Operators will provide their Supervisor and Fleet Manager a list of electronic equipment to be mounted in the console. Information will include the make and model so appropriate faceplates and blanks may be ordered.

GRILLE LIGHTS

Slim profile LED lights will be installed on the vehicles. Two individual LED light heads consisting of a red and white lens will be used.

Whelen ION Series Super-LED Universal Lights or equivalent will be installed. The two lights will be installed near the center of the grille. Driver side light will be a red LED and passenger side light will be a white LED.

Please note: The accompanying pictures show dual colors in a single light, the lights required are a single color per light.

CORNER LIGHTS

Conflicts with certain Dodge and Chevrolet vehicles onboard computer systems occur when using a headlight flasher such as the UHF2150A. Use of headlight flashers will not be used.

Four compact LED corner lights will be installed in each vehicle. Two will be white, one in each in the front head light assembly or within an enclosed bezel and two will be red, one each in the rear taillight assemblies.

Whelen Vertex Competitor Series Super-LED or equivalent will be used.

FOREST SERVICE RADIO

Forest Service will supply a Bendix King Model DMH-5992, brackets and antenna to the vendor for vendor installation and wiring through the control head to allow PA and Radio broadcasting.
