About this file

This document is an amendment to a solicitation for the Eagle Creek Trail Bridge Replacement project. The amendment provides clarification on technical aspects of the project specifications. It indicates the correct material for the waterline is 4" HDPE inside an 8" insulated HDPE jacket, and that the 16" x 0.375 steel pipe piles must be advanced using a drill head rather than placed into predrilled holes. Additionally, it provides instruction to mail bid bonds to the Mt. Hood National Forest Zigzag Ranger Station, and attaches the full geotechnical drill log report. The related opportunity posting indicates it is a solicitation from the USDA Forest Service for the Eagle Creek Trail Bridge Replacement project.

*** EAGLE CREEK TRAIL BRIDGE REPLACEMENT***

Site visit attendees were: PVH Construction, Ridge2River, Norterra Services, RL Reimers Co. The contractors observed the site first hand. No additional

Q&A that went beyond what can be found in the plan set and specifications.

Questions via email: 1. The bid schedule calls out a 4 inch galvanized waterline inside a 10 HDPE sleeve yet the drawings are specifically calling for a 4”

HDPE waterline installed inside an 8” HDPE casing with closed cell foam insulation filling the annular space. Which is correct? The plan set is correct. A 4” HDPE carrier line inside an 8” insulated HDPE jacket. 2. Plan sheet 7 of 15 indicates that the 16” x 0.375 steel pipe shell pipe is to be drilled to 40ft Bgs using an under-reaming system. Will it be acceptable to instead use a vertical drill rig to drill a 24” hole and then place the 16” casing in it and fully concrete the exterior and then install the inner concrete and rebar as shown? No, the drilling must advance the pipe pile with the drill head – these piles are not designed as drilled shafts, therefore setting them into the drilled holes after the drilling is not acceptable.

Requested full geotechnical drill log report for the Eagle Creek Trail Bridge project. See attached.

Bid Bonds are now to be mailed to: Mt. Hood National Forest, Zigzag Ranger Station (Attention: Leslie Solberg-AQM), 70220 E. Hwy. 26, Zigzag, Oregon
