REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) 70Z02422Q00329

QUESTION #1

I could quote your project as per your SOW but I have an alternate method for your consideration which I believe would be a better use of government funding. Your SOW indicates the contractor is to install meters for 14 days then return and pull the meters and provide reports. The project requires two site visits which are labor intensive.

Why not install permanent meters and connect them to an unsecured network for remote reading? Surely this electrical loading information is not classified therefore anyone with system passwords could view the data. The meters would be permanent and a second trip by the contractor to remove would not be required thereby saving labor money to put toward permanent meters.

Meters these days have come way down in price so it is therefore cost effective to install them permanently and read them remotely.

ANSWER #1

Installing the meters permanently will save on an additional site visit and will make us capable of a continuous remote monitoring. This will be greatly beneficial for future needs. Please include in a solicitation modification.
