MEMORANDUM FOR MICC-Fort Drum
SUBJECT: Brand Name Exact Match Memo for FedBid Buy [#]
1. The Team Wendy M-216 Ski Search and Rescue (SAR) tactical winter multi-cam helmet is designed to conduct military training exercises in a winter alpine environment.
The requested ski helmet is necessary to conduct military training exercises effectively in an alpine environment while maintaining established training safety standards.
2. The 10th SFG (A) conducted extensive market research from 27 January until 16 May 2018. The unit conducted these evaluations at various locations in Colorado, which included downhill ski training as well as small unit tactical field training exercises.
3. The Team Wendy M-216 Ski SAR winter multi-cam helmet is the only winter camouflage ski helmet currently on the market that meets impact attenuation requirements for: ASTM F2040-11 (Recreational Snow Sports); and BS EN 1077:2007 Class B (Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding) while maintaining a Night Vision Device compatible front mounting system and including a rail mount system on each side of the helmet that is able to secure a detachable NAR/MIL-STD-1913 compatible mount that allows for the mounting of military components that use NAR/MIL-STD-1913 equipment, such as tactical lights or cameras.
4. For the reasons listed above, the 10th SFG(A) Winter Warfare Detachment requests that a brand name purchase of the Team Wendy M-216 Ski SAR winter multi-cam helmet be approved.
