EXHIBIT PLANNING
a. Review and finalize previously created thematic space plan and conceptual design for 2,900 square feet exhibit space, including visitor needs and flow; apportioned space for exhibit themes and theme sequences; and position of significant objects and/or experiences. This plan includes an outline of museum exhibits according to major themes identified by the museum.
b. Prepare preliminary project budget and schedule.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Based on the work that was completed and approved during the concept and schematic phases, prepare a Design Development package for the US Navy in the Civil War exhibit experience (1,739 sq. ft. section) to be carefully coordinated with the building program and fabrication requirements. Develop the floor plans and elevations integrating the graphic and exhibition treatments. The Museum’s project team will provide all final high-resolution images to create the final digital artwork but vendor will complete any of the initial illustrations used in the graphics.
Implement all approved designs into final production documents in AutoCAD format, coordinated and keyed with the graphics package. The Final Design Development Documents must include progress presentations of 65% and 100% complete drawing and specifications packages. All comments from the project team must be integrated into a fully qualified package, which will be reviewed and approved by the Museum’s project team. Present the Design Development Documents to the Museum’s project team for at 65% and 100% for preliminary approval. Make requested revisions/modifications in the next phase of development.
Design Development Deliverables:
• Floor plans coordinated with media treatments
• All graphic elevations and case layouts
• Final documentation and specifications for exhibits and production of graphic treatments
FINAL DIGITAL ARTWORK
Prepare final digital files for printing the exhibition graphics (FDA) for the US Navy in the Civil War exhibit experience using Adobe InDesign, and additional programs including Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
Based on the design development documents, refine the graphic layouts to include the actual content, script, and images, and submit digital proofs for each graphic element. Present proofs to the Museum’s project team for review and discuss on recurring calls as needed.
Submit graphic proofs as PDF files, posted to a file sharing service. Include at least two reviews of the graphic layouts with changes that do not deviate from the approved design. Upon final approval of the graphic proofs, prepare final digital files for printing the interpretive graphics program. Develop all artwork in an electronic format, Adobe InDesign, and additional programs including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Provide the digital files to the Museum with standard production-ready settings and all high-resolution images in place. Include graphic proofs showing all the required specifications to the fabricator.
