Brand Name Salient-Characteristics Sellers shall offer goods/services that meet or exceed the following Brand Name Salient Characteristics.

Proven and Existing Technology VMWare and vSphere ESXi are already in place in our data center and any movement away from existing infrastructure with produce substantial downtime and require a huge amount of investment to reconfigure.

Virtualizing multiple servers, reduce need for physical servers, decreases the amount of server storage space. This is required and more important than ever within DOI/USGS due to new costs associated with new operating systems and management of existing enterprise licenses.

Integrated Management with Existing Hardware VMWare and vSphere ESXi hypervisor embedded in all existing servers currently installed at our location. The Hypervisors reside at a firmware level and provide fast and efficient integration between hardware and software.

The Dell Management Plug-In for VMWare vCenter simplifies tasks such as discovering, monitoring, managing, patching, and deploying ESXi to existing Dell servers without third party agents running on servers. Existing Dell Plug-ins for VMWare v Center can also monitor network and storage.

Reliability Multiple communication paths and High Availability nodes within a cluster can communicate through our storage subsystem as well as over the management network. Multiple communication paths increase redundancy and enable better assessment of the health of a vSphere host and its virtual machines.

High Availability Monitor VMware vSphere hosts and virtual machines to detect hardware and guest operating system failures.

Restart virtual machines on other vSphere hosts in the cluster without manual intervention when a server outage is detected.

Reduce application downtime by automatically restarting virtual machines upon detection of an operating system failure.

Disaster Recovery VMWare, vSphere ESXi and vMotion integrate with our existing datastores to provide server and data backup. If there is a failure VMWare works with out datastore to relocate or move operating server to existing healthy hardware thus providing zero downtime and data security. If one a physical servers crashes, systems will automatically migrate all the hosted virtual servers to another physical server via data stores. We will have constant system availability and will not lose any uptime.
