Specifications for Boat, Motor, and Trailer Background:
The USGS Caribbean-Florida Water Science Center (CFWSC), Tallahassee office, requires the purchase of a new boat (with motor) and trailer to be used for most sites, especially for work to be performed at the Wacissa River. The river is shallow and consists of heavy vegetation. The current boats struggle to make the trip up and down the river without hitting rocks and getting clogged with vegetation. The is also the danger of getting stranded without access to medical attention for a long time. Another danger experienced is fast approaching electrical storms, where no shelter can be found. The new boat would not only alleviate these safety issues, but also increase efficiency for maintaining the site(s).
