Brand Name Salient Characteristics Sellers shall offer the brand name goods/services equipped in accordance with the Brand Name Specifications or shall offer goods/services that meet or exceed the following Brand Name Salient Characteristics.

“Portable Multi-Beam Echosounder with Integrated Inertial Measurement Unit” The intent of these specifications is to describe the general design, function, and software required for procurement of a shallow-water multibeam echosounder (MBES) with an integrated GNSS-aided inertial measurement unit (IMU) and software necessary for its operation and data post-processing. The MBES System must be easily moved and mounted by a single individual on vessels ranging from 4 to 35 m in length, and the top-side control system(s) must be compact to economize space on smaller vessels. The MBES System must meet the following brand name salient characteristics (all items on this list must be included as specified in the base quote sub-total):

· Physical Salient Characteristics:

· The System must be portable as it will be installed on different boats.

· The System must suit installation aboard vessels from 4 to 35 meters in length and be able to operate in rivers, streams, lakes, or ponds.

· “Top side” processor must fit in space no larger than one cubic foot.

· Weight of “wet end” (including sonar, integrated internal measurement unit (IMU), bracket, and fairing): 25 lbs or less

· The System’s transmit and receive arrays must be 0.35 meters or less in length and 0.25 meters or less in width so that it is easily handled by one small person and easily mounted to any vessel.

· The topside unit of the System must be totally protected against dust and splashing water.

· If the System consists of separate transducer elements (i.e., receive and transmit modules not forming one piece), a calibrated bracket must be supplied with the System. Bracket calibration must comply with the System alignment requirements.

· If the System is a dual head system (i.e., 1 transmit element and 2 receive elements, 2 transmit elements and 2 receive elements, or 2 distinct elements), all sonar elements (transmitters and receivers) must fit on one bracket.

· The transducer assembly must be operable in a pole mounted configuration.

· The System must operate in water temperatures ranging -2° C to +30°C, in high current, mixed salt and fresh water and high sediment conditions such as the river exit to sea, as well as in fresh water conditions such as in rivers and lakes.

· The complete System must be capable of accepting 10-24 VDC and 110- 230 VAC and operate between 40 -100 Watts for use with standard marine batteries (operation on 12V DC power is required).

· The procurement must include a wi-fi-controlled GNSS Base Logging System for static observations. The GNSS Base Logging station must include a self-contained GNSS antenna, and onboard removable memory and batteries. The logging system must also be sealed against moisture.

· Functional Salient Characteristics:

· Ethernet interface of 1Gb/s or greater

· Frequency agile: The System must have operable frequency selection with a total range equal or greater to 500 kHz, and a maximum frequency of at least 700 kHz.

· Number of sonar beams: at least 512

· The System must provide bathymetric data across a swath at least 190° wide at speeds of 4 – 7 knots.

· Resolution: 1 degree across track or smaller and 2 degree along track or smaller

· Ping rate: Up to 50 Hz

· The System must include an integrated surface sound speed probe for real-time beam steering. The probe will be removable for easy replacement.

· The System must include a sound speed profiler for profiling water depths up to 300m and that will transfer sound speed of the water column with Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) position data to the profile wirelessly and automatically. Must include wi-fi data transfer and a compact casting reel.

· Depth range: 0.2 to 150 m

· Ability to measure and record sidescan, water column, backscatter, and snippets

· The System’s time base (for synchronizing a computer subsystem and ancillary equipment) must be synchronized to Universal Time Coordinated (UTC) via GNSS 1 pulse per second (1 PPS).

· The sonar must have automated control with hands-free operation (immediately following power up). Automated sonar tuning should include power, gain, transmit pulse, bandwidth and ping rate.

· The System must provide functionality in the controlling software to control swath width.

· The System must provide functionality in the controlling software to rotate sector swath.

· Vendor must provide depth/position accuracies with uncertainty propagation model for horizontal and vertical errors.

· The System must supply, within its data stream, a beam quality indicator that can be viewed in real time and captured in post-processing for quality control.

· The System must comply with the International Hydrographic Organization Standards for Hydrographic Surveys (S-44) “Special Order” requirements for depths of 1m to 50m.

· Navigation Salient Characteristics:

· The System must include an integrated or easily connected Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that allows for rapid re-deployment between vessels. The IMU must achieve at least the following real-time component accuracies using Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Real Time Kinematic (RTK) or Post-Processed Kinematic (PPK) corrected positions:

· Positioning Accuracy of 2 - 10cm

· Heading Accuracy of 0.08° Short Baseline and 0.03° with 2m Baseline

· Pitch/Roll Accuracy of 0.02° Independent on Baseline

· Heave Accuracy of 5cm (2cm with PPK or RTK)

· Motion corrections employed by sonar for steering must be flagged within the data stream to indicate what specific corrections were made.

· Software Salient Characteristics:

· The System must be compatible with Hypack, QINSy or EIVA data logging software.

· The sonar System must be supplied with software to support a computer-controlled interface for the acquisition and display of data. This software must run on the same acquisition PC as the data logging software (minimally an i5 processor with 8MB RAM and 250GB hard-drive).

· Applanix POSpac MMS SmartBase software must be provided that is capable of doing PPK corrections from multiple GNSS base stations.

· Hypack and Hysweep software must be included with the System for calibration, data collection, and data processing.

· Other:

· Vendor shall warranty equipment and software by providing repair and/or replacement for a period of at least 1 year.

· Vendor shall provide and send another system (delivery time two weeks) if the purchased system doesn’t work properly on warranty period.

· Vendor shall support the System with repair parts at least 5 years from the date of the contract.

· USACE New Work & IHO Special Order Compliant for sample per sweep, bottom coverage, and survey accuracy/repeatability.
