The National Library of Medicine (NLM), Library Operations has awarded a Master IDIQ for Bibliographic Assistance for Cataloging of Germanic and Romance Language Monographs. NLM intends to acquire limited or copy-cataloged bibliographic records for 600-1500 foreign language monographs. The materials will be a mix specifically of Catalan (1%), Dutch (3%), French (24%), German (38%), Italian (14%), Portuguese (1%), Romanian (7%), and Spanish (12%). It is anticipated that approximately 70% of the items will require copy cataloging and 30% will require original limited level RDA cataloging. Contracted cataloging assistance has been an essential activity for the last several years during which the Cataloging and Metadata Management section contracted for the cataloging of foreign language materials in order to meet its mandate of providing bibliographic control and for announcing the Library's acquisitions to the biomedical library community.
