The Department of the Army Acquisition Support Center Program Executive Office Ammunition awarded General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, Inc. an indefinite delivery contract with a potential value of $49.3 million to procure and test 105mm M724A2 tank training projectiles. Under this contract, two firm fixed price delivery orders have been issued to date for a combined value of $12.2 million. The first order in 2021 provided for ballistic and dimensional testing as well as 2,600 projectiles to be delivered through September 2023 in St. Petersburg, Florida. The second order in 2023 includes first article testing and 1,700 projectiles with recycled cases through August 2024 at the same location.

The original solicitation sought proposals to manufacture, test and deliver 3,400 105mm M724A2 Target Practice Discarding Sabot with Tracer cartridges for the Stryker Mobile Gun System through January 2024. Load assembly and propellant cases would be restricted to U.S. and Canadian sources under the National Technology and Industrial Base program. The M724A2 round is intended to match the ballistics of the M900 armor piercing round for training purposes up to 7,000 meters. General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, Inc. was selected as the prime contractor to provide all associated labor, materials and equipment to meet requirements.
