The International Organization for Migration (IOM) received a $3.45 million project grant award from the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Counterterrorism under the Global Counterterrorism Programs (CFDA 19.701) to promote coordination between vulnerable border communities and border management officials in Niger and Burkina Faso from September 2021 through September 2023. The Global Counterterrorism Programs aim to build foreign partner law enforcement capacity to prevent, disrupt, investigate and prosecute terrorism. Under this award, IOM will work to bolster the efforts of civilian governments and civil societies in Niger and Burkina Faso to counter terrorism and strengthen border security through community engagement and cooperation with border officials.
