The Volunteers of America-Greater New York, Inc. was awarded a two-year, $1.9 million project grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Under Secretary for Health to provide supportive services under the VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program (SSVF Program). The SSVF Program aims to assist very low-income veteran families residing in or transitioning to permanent housing. As required by the program, Volunteers of America-Greater New York, Inc. will deliver outreach, case management, and assistance obtaining VA and other public benefits to participant veterans. Optional services that may also be provided using the grant funds include temporary financial assistance paid directly to third parties for childcare, housing, transportation, utilities, and other basic needs assistance. The services are intended to promote housing stability for low-income veteran households.
