- The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) awarded a $147,486 Project Grant under the Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research program (CFDA 93.847) to the University of Chicago. The grant, awarded on September 30, 2025, will fund research to comprehensively establish the role of gut microbes in modulating pancreatic interleukin-22 (IL-22) levels and the consequences of this gut-to-pancreas axis on pancreatic health and disease. The...
- The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), a component of the National Institutes of Health, awarded a $324,793 Project Grant under the Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research program (CFDA 93.847) to Nucb1 Holdings LLC. The funding supports the development of a novel platform technology for discovering conformation-specific, anti-protofibril monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) that target intermediate amyloid aggregates implicated in the...
- This federal Project Grant award of $1,021,719 was provided by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) under the Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research program (CFDA 93.847). The funding supports the development and advancement of a novel small molecule compound, EMMY1-25, by the company Emmyon, Inc. for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Through this Phase II SBIR award, Emmyon will further investigate the safety, efficacy,...
- This Project Grant award of $306,867, provided by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) under the Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research program (CFDA 93.847), is for the development of a new drug to treat transplant-associated renal ischemia-reperfusion injury. The goal is to create a therapy that can reduce inflammation and thrombosis without increasing vascular leakage and bleeding, which are common issues with existing treatment...
- Amdx Prognostx Inc. received a $791,145 Project Grant award from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases within the Department of Health and Human Services. The award falls under the Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research program (CFDA 93.847), which promotes biomedical research to improve understanding and treatment of diabetes, digestive, and kidney diseases. Under this award, Amdx Prognostx will develop an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay...
- The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), under the Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research program (CFDA 93.847), awarded a $292,116 Project Grant to Renovate Biosciences Inc. on September 25, 2025. The goal of this grant is to generate human livers from donor patient-specific cells using pigs as a "bio-incubator" for xenotransplantation. This research aims to provide a pathway for generating "on-demand"...
The National Institutes of Health National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases awarded $3.6 million under the Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases Extramural Research program (CFDA 93.847) to Anagram Therapeutics Inc. to develop a novel pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy. Specifically, Anagram will engineer lipase enzymes for improved stability against low pH and proteolytic degradation. This will allow for effective digestion of fats in both the stomach and small intestine. Anagram will also reformulate existing mini-tablets of lipase, protease, and amylase enzymes into a rapidly disintegrating tablet formulation suitable for both liquid administration and reduced treatment burden. Effectiveness will be tested using an exocrine pancreatic insufficiency porcine model and analytical methods to measure macronutrient absorption. A 28-day toxicology study of the enzyme formulation will also be conducted to inform future clinical studies. The award runs from August 2022 through July 2023 and aims to improve outcomes for patients suffering from malabsorption syndromes.
